    Mississippi River People?

Just wondering if there were any Crownies in my area? I am on the river between Illinois and Iowa, by Interstate 80 bridge crossing the Mississippi. The rallies all sound fun, but I have a 250CR to haul. Chicago about 3 hours, St. Louis about 5 hours. Anybody close? Just curious.  Kathy

    Re: Mississippi River People?

We slip in Savanna Ilinois between Fulton LD13 and Bellevue LD 12.   I agree with the towing. Would love to do the loop cruise but between towing our 268CR from Northwest Illinois into the Chicago area and then doing the loop, I would be looking at $500 in gas usage for one trip.

Our section of the Mississippi is not populated and quite scenic around Savanna. Quite a number of places to beach for the night. Dubuque is a short trip up river about an hour and half depending on the lock traffic.

How is the river down your way?

    Re: Mississippi River People?

Well, rivers high and lots of junk floating and it's still cold. I think it's time for a break for the better. I am way past getting out there. It's fun to see who's out on the river.  It IS beautifull in your pool. Does any one make it to tug fest? That's my personal favorite. No problem locking through. We are at Captains Quarter Dry Stack. We will have to get our own Mississippi "Rally"!!!  See you soon, hopefully.

    Hi Kathy,

I live about 35 miles north of Davenport.  Usually boat between Bellevue and Dubuque. We'll have to get something together this summer with area Crownies. I have only been down that way a few times on the river, but would love to check it out more.

Anybody ever go to Hawkeye Boat Sales poker run in Dubuque?  I was planning on last year but a submerged log had other plans for our outdrive Super Angry  Might be fun to consider a Crownie tie up to watch the Baja folks burn incredible amounts of fuel trying to outrun each other!

    Re: Mississippi River People?

I actually made it on the Mississippi River this afternoon. Put in at Spruce Creek in Bellevue IA. The water was plenty high but I was surprised at how clean it was. The new boat runs great. It took a while to move around the docks and to load it on the trailer but that could just be a result of the 4' itis wearing off.  Spring is here! Woo Hoo!!

Going to get my boat out of storage tomarrow.  I'm not sure if I'm going to put it in the water this week or not.  I hear it's going to be in the 70's in Iowa.

    Ed,

Spruce Creek is about 2 miles north of LD 12.  Nice little cove out of the current which is very fast right now

    Re: Mississippi River People?

Yes Brian, that would have been me. I ended up ordering '07 250CR. I got it in October and just put it away in storage. I am going to bring it home tomorrow and finally OPEN it up. How exciting is that???  She will be in the driveway, till the rivers clears up. Not quite ready to put new boat in with all the junk floating by. I am totaly impressed with one of us getting on the river in pool 12, way to go!!!! I am ready.

I, too have been watching over at dry stack. Carl said he was puting me in slot #4. Not too sure which it is, but before I bring mine over there, I would like to see it cleared out a bit more from the winter stored boats. I live in Rapids City and watch across the river and got excited when I saw the dock in!!! Well, I look forward to meeting Dry Stack people. I do think we should get some of the CL people into our pool and get a Mississippi Rally going. That would be fun. It's always fun meeting new river people. Lets all hope for no more flooding and rain. Boating people are the best.

    Re: Mississippi River People?

Ed,  I, too was planning on heading up to the poker run in Dubuque this year with the new boat. I think it is June 8-9th. By then I hope we will have the new boat figured out and stay up there for a few days. I agree it would be fun to get some other Crownies tie up. Can't imagine the amount of gas flowing threw those boats. We are more of the cruise up the river and watch all the maddness. Look forward to that weekend. Marked on my calender!!!

    Hi Kathy,

I'm from Clinton so I know how you feel about being ready to go. I just bought a 190SS at the boat show at the River Center. I did sign up for the Loop Cruise and I would at least like to get my boat out one time before I go up there. I think a rally in this area would be great.
