    Stolen 315SCR

Here is the text of an email I recieved this morning from one of our owners regarding the theft of his 315SCR.  If anyone happens to see this boat, please contact me at jduff@crownline.com

Just 18 months ago I purchased my third Crownline in a row. This 315 SCR is outstanding. I,ve had 23 boats in my life,, Donzi, Sea Ray, Grew, Taylor SS but this one is PERFECT !!! It,s not a boat ,, it,s a CROWNLINE. Unfortunately someone liked it more than me and it was stolen from downtown Kingston Ontario Canada 300 feet from my wife,s desk at City Hall. It was taken from its mooring at Confederation Basin sometime after 11 a.m. Tuesday Sept 30. Like all my boats it is white with black accents. The Harbour Master observed it being loaded on a trailer hauled by a white 3/4 ton pickup. The VIN # is JTC68212L607. It bears a Canadian registration ON505260. Kindly let your franchise dealers know about this occurence. REWARD !!!

    Re: Stolen 315SCR

I'm really sorry to hear about this.  We'll all keep our eyes open for VIN # JTC68212L607

With winter just around the corner and all our boats seeking storage, this is one of my big fears.  I just purchased a Trimax UMAX100 Universal Coupler Lock hoping to deter a potential criminal.

Unfortunately, it is probably being parted out.  Or, on its way to a country where it will not be registered.

    Could it have been repoed???

Anyway, everyone is pulling out for the winter, so I doubt it will be seen down here.

After 23 boats, this doesn't sound like someone that underestimated the costs of owning a boat!

Sounds like someone has been looking for just the opportunity.  I would bet that stealing a vessel of that size would take some planning, and some large cahones.

    Re: Stolen 315SCR

I want to thank everyone for the interest in my MISSING 315SCR.  It's not just a boat ,,,it's a CROWNLINE.  Rest assured there was no repossession involved here. The boat was paid for in full. It was seen being pulled through our city by a white Chevy crewcab with Quebec plates(tags). Late last tuesday ( Sept 30) it was spotted by Cornwall Ontario near the Quebec border at the side of the highway with a flat tire being changed.  The thieves obviously underestimated the weight of this boat. The police indicate this is probably the work of bikers.  My wife is devestated by this loss. It was the "show" boat at the Toronto International Boat Show in January of 2007. I added Captain's Call to the twin 496 engines and it was flawless. No comebacks, no warranty issues, turn the key and go. It was the best balanced boat I have ever owned and the only one in Canada !!!!  Officer Friendly,, our local cop, indicates it is either stripped by now or in a shipping crate leaving Canada as I pen this note.  This whole situation is very disturbing for my first mate Cyndy. I will probably be paid out after 30 days by insurance but that is no substitute for the boat.  By the way it was christened with an unforgettable name that was affixed to the stern under the sun pad.  Like all my boats the name was  " oar-gazz-mmm " .  Please keep an eye out and I'll drop back and let everyone know how everything resolves.,  I may even have a very low mileage Heritage Custom trailer for sale. Re: Stolen 315SCR

    Ken,

Thanks for posting.  Welcome to Team Crownline as well.  But like your local law enforcement stated, the boat is either in a crate or stripped already.  I really do hope that you end up getting the boat back but if you do not, I hope that you will be able to get another 315CR.

Tell Cyndy this is why you have insurance.  Be patient and best of luck. Keep us posted.

Love the name of the vessel.

    Kerry

    Re: Stolen 315SCR

Hey Kerry,,. It's funny you should welcome me to the Crownline site. I,ve been a member of the Volvo Club of America for years but only recently have I viewed Crownline owners site. I shouldn,t have had my head in the sand. The site,, so I have come to realize provides a wealth of information from true experiences.  I,ve been a Crownline owner since 95 when I picked up a 95 250CR. It was a goood boat but in 05 we ordered a 270CR but as soon as I took delivery I had my heart set on the 315SCR. If you EVER have the opportunity to test- float one of these do so. They are simply incredible.,., Ken

    Re: Stolen 315SCR

Sorry for your loss Ken & Cyndy!  Take comfort in that the Karma Train rolls like thunder, and it will come back to all that was involved in spades...from the planners to the two bit thugs that pulled it off!

Hope the insurance company enables you to find a suitable replacement...maybe get a twin replacement, then you can name it "multiple oar-gazz-mmm's"!

Very sorry for your loss Ken. Was this the same boat that was for sale in the Auto Trader this Summer? I cant believe something like this could and has happened.

Ken, there is a pretty big organized crime element in Quebec.  Chances are they had something to do with it.  Sorry for your loss.

    Re: Stolen 315SCR

Yes it was in the Auto Trader in the summer.  Being in the automobile industry I must offer my inventory for sale. Looking back to Poker Run weekend here in our city where Cyndy and I  have been volunteer marshalls for a number of years some things are falling into place.  There was a very anxious couple who drove in from Montreal to view the boat. Understandably they LOVED it. However they chose not to go for a ride. One of my friends I spoke to at the hockey game last evening witnessed the boat being loaded on a trailer by a man and a woman. Unfortunately he just felt it was a seasonal pullout. Coincidence??? Hmmm. Ken
