Re: 2007 Chespeake Bay Rally - Another great job

    Carmine Caruso:

First off, Ann & I ( and cabin boy: aka Charlie  Sheen) would like to thank all of the people who put together this rally- you did a great job, and to all the other crownies we would like to thank you for making us feel so welcome (and not turning our boat around in our slip :). We had a GREAT time. It made the 11 hour journey worth the trip. We can't stop talking about how great  everyone was  and what a wonderful bunch of people you fellow Crownies are. The poker run was fun and  we were glad we made it on time. The over night raft up was also pretty awesome. When we were getting ready to leave and everyone jumped on our boat  that was pretty damn Kool. I now know the REAL person capacity of the boat.....28 people...lol.

I took tons of pics and will post them as soon as I can edit them, and try and photo shop Cappy or me  into the group shop that we took turns taking.

We are already talking about next year and how we will make "better" plans for it...... arriving earlier and staying later and visiting Baltimore and Annapolis.

Now for the not so fun part......  we made it thru the C& D canal no problem, then the Delaware  was pretty ruff, we were slammed around  untill we hit Cape May...NOT FUN!!

We took the intrarcoastal from Cape May to Atlantic City, a peacefull ride but all the no wake zones took forever. from AC  we hit the Ocean, I think the waves were higher than when we left. we turned into the Little Egg  inlet and took the intra coastal all the way home . the last few hours without running lights...

                                                        Time left: about 11:00 am

                                                        Time  arrived home 9:45pm

    Total gas bill ...$1700

Total food and drink Bill $300

    total hotel bill  $90

spending time with you Chesapeake Crownies....Priceless!!!!

other than having a sore back, sore knees, blisters on my feet and cant walk, we would do it all again( you Chesapeake Crownies are all OK in our book) If any ( or all) ever want to take the ride by boat or trailer down  you are more than welcome to  stay with us and we will show you the Barnegat Bay  and area, and try and return the Hospitality you all showed us....thanks again   Ann and Carmine

ps. ...... Cabin boy was up until 2:00 am Sunday night cleaning the boat.

Carmine,  This is why I have been trying to get you to go for the past several years.  Loads of fun and loads of great folks.  I am glad everyone had a good time.  I really missed going this year.  Actually, my campout weekend didn't turn out so good, other than spending time with my grandkids.  I would have much rather been at Tomes.

Man this was one hell of a rally.  Total props to the rally committee.  You guys put a lot of work into this and we’re certainly glad that you do.

Dave and Linda, thanks again for putting up with this group of miscreants.

John and Connie, always great to see you northerners again.  PS, Connie, you were right 3 years ago - we shoulda got a bigger boat.

Henry and Debbie, thanks for the coffee Saturday morning -  I REALLY, needed it.  And Henry, there’s still no way I’m ever getting out of a perfectly safe boat to go into a shark’s living room.

Ed and Jean, so glad that the hillbilly made it up. Ed, I still can’t figure out how I ended up in that last dinghy race?  You need to ‘splain that to me at Eagle cove next weekend!

Carmine, Ann and Matt (alias “…Boy”) It was great to finally meet you and see that monster bow rider up close.  Now if you could just remember to  keep the speed down under 60 when you pass me on the poker run I’d appreciate it.  Your wake was higher than my bimini top.  Seriously, glad you made the trip and the offer for next year stands if you decide to make a week trip.

Scott and Cathy, Ed and Linda, no matter what anyone says, you guys (along with Carmine and Ann), can take all the credit for the beautiful weather.  I’m thinking that the new guys broke the jinx.  (Ed, Porter says he only pays his agent 1%)

Tony, I got a call from some old lady – she just said “It wasn’t the tall skinny one”

Bill and Tracy – Hope festivus is back in the water.  Tracy, great job at the helm, next step is a run down to the Magothy.  Bill – let her drive!

Mark B, liberty call says that she wants to be just like the big Ray when she grows up.

And Mark H, don’t worry about the pictures.  I’ll be sure that only the “good” ones get posted

I’m working on getting the pictures sorted out and up on a sharing site.  I’ll post a link as soon as I get them done.  In the meantime here’s something to whet the appetite.

It was a great rally and we had a blast.  The cookie lady, Porter and I hope to see you all again real soon.

    Team Crownline,

Thank you all for a wonderful weekend.  This being our first rally, we had no idea what we were in for ... now we are hooked.  The only problem is that we will need that "special" invite in the future.  Bob, Tony and Greg for a bunch of oldtimers you really know how to put on a great event.

To everyone that we met, we hope that we will see you all again on the waters.

Carmine - If we came to visit you, I wouldn't be able to send my kids to college.

I still have 3 unanswered questions:

1 - Where did all of these bruises that I have come from?
2 - How did noone get arrested?
3 - Will the computer screen ever stop rocking?

    Vince & Lorie

All are welcome to send pictures to vpenderghest@verizon.net  ...

I'll have to add about  4 feet to my swim platform then. I do have some relatives in MD, Tony. None of them have the Hudak last name (that I know of.)

Glad you had so much fun.  The ride is long and as you said, worth it.  I will be at F-Cove on Saturday. at around 10-10:30 for most of the day.  If you're in the area, stop by.
