Mark:  At Georgetown Yacht Basin ,  she has a houseboat and a 21' Repalo center console.  She and her husband had a 38' Bayliner with two of everything and one was always broken so they traded the Bayliner for a room with a view,  a full size 'frig and living room,  queen size bed, etc.  Can't get that from a Crownline.CryingCrying  (You know what I would rather have! If anybody ever spent time at Ordinary point, the beach now has a pile of rocks going the whole way around the point. (All along the beach) That beach used to get pretty full...I'm sure alot of people we be surprised this summer.

    Kinda sucks.....kids liked that place.

Is it out from the beach like a breaker or directly against the beach???. I was going to race Greg H back to Tome's from Georgetown and that was my "ace in the hole" I was going to pull a James Bond Live and Let Die scene and get enough speed and shoot across Ordinary Point and catch the Frass on the other side.....I guess I'll just have to run into him while he's trying to get up on plane Angry

Hey Cappy, is there a schedule of events and times  posted anywhere?  We are not gonna be up there untill friday morn sometime, The poker run sounds like fun,  hopefully I  will try and make it by the start.

Guys, I expect Greg will be chiming in pretty soon.  He's going to be sending out another mailing pretty soon with registration info and maybe the calendar of events.  Mark H has built a website that the rally committee is going to use to post info.  Here's the link  chesapeake bay rally website .  You might want to bookmark it and check back from time to time.

I'm sure Greg will post info here as it becomes available.

All this rally talk is getting me psyched.  Just hope this damn weather changes pretty soon so I can feed my habit.

It's right at waters edge about a foot high. I wouldn't try the "James Bond" move....well I would with your boat but not mine. Devil

As for a race against Greg, I wouldn't worry about it, he'll have a different boat by spring. Even so, I can run blocker for ya Wink

Well, I am still up in the air about the Rally this summer.  If I was a responsible person taking into consideration my current financial situation with the new house, I would save my money and not go or at least only drive down and maybe bring the Sea Doo's.  Then again, I think that this will probably be my last Chesapeake Rally and I should go with the boat, and say to hell with the $1,000 fuel bill for the weekend.Sad  But then again, I do enjoy being married.Embarrassed  WOULD YOU ALL JUST STOP TALKING ABOUT THE RALLY FOR A WHILE SO I CAN GET SOME REST.SleepSleep

Re: 2007 Chesapeake Bay Rally - need address & emails

Les, We need you to come. Everyone enjoys you and your Family. Rumor has it west Marine might be giving a gas card for a door prize this yr.

Hank, we said hi to a couple on the Fras last year that owned 2 or 3 boats and had a couple of dogs with them on the beach, and they even had their own sign on the beach stating their spot. Wonder if it was your sis.

Mark's rumor is right... as of today I will be staying at Georgetown Yacht Basin this year in a lift that was just installed for me, (with a remote) and will be right at the Granary where we had lunch last year during the Rally's Poker Run.

Tomes is still the Best, and it was not a ez decision.

I've been wanting to go to Georgetown for a long time, and after working with Ivan (dock  master all winter about a lift) I think their the Best on the this side of the shore, because it' no secret, we love the Fras, and since were there almost every weekend, were glad we wont be seeing the fuel pump as often.

I think it will be a lot of fun, and Toby Too should be there possibly next weekend.

We may still keep it at Tomes for winter storage and service.

    Bobby D

Re: 2007 Chesapeake Bay Rally - need address & emails

Fact #1.  Tony's boat has not beaten me in the past.

Fact #2.  Tony's boat will not beat me in the future.

Fact #3.  You have no idea how much I enjoy fact #''s 1 & 2.

Unfortunate Fact #4.  Both Karen & I were laid off last week effective the end of the month.  (We both have worked at the same place since 1985)  Company was underbid on it's contract & is shutting down, so hopefully we'll still have Impulsive Desire this summer & won't be bumming a ride at the rally

Fortunate fact #5.  I've lost about 25 lbs since last rally, & am planning on another 25 by next rally, so whatever tweaking Tony wants to do will be offset by reduced "tonage" on "ID".

Neither fortunate or unfortunate fact #6.  I'LL SAVE YOU THE TROUBLE OF POSTING TONY.  YES I KNOW, 50 LBS = DROP IN THE OCEAN.  .  I'LL STILL HAVE 100 LBS TO GO.  A COUPLE MORE LBS & I'LL I MIGHT ACTUALLY LOSE A ZIP CODE.  ETC., ETC., ETC.

I'm going to print up the 2nd rally packets this weekend with the itinery & registration forms & get them out the following weekend.  We're hoping for a really good turnout this year, so make sure you all plan on being there.  Tell a friend, tell a Crownie, what the heck, even tell someone with a Bayliner...  :-)

Re: 2007 Chesapeake Bay Rally - need address & emails

Obsesive aren't we?????Big Smile Hey I'm adding more weight in my boat...I'm installing AC and.just got a new dinghy now I was looking for a motor but I may have to put everything on the back burner that goes with boating even actual boating. Patice and I are aggressively working on starting a wine shoppe it will sell wine and microbrews as carryout and you will be able to drink and have lite fare in the establishment. It is still a long way off but we just did the background check and meet with the Liquior board in June. I may have to sell one of my cars...I was asked to sort of choose between the car and the boat so that's why a car may be going. All this may be openning around end of July or begining of Aug I really want to open the second or third week in Aug.Wink So as of right now I'm still going to the rally but it may be limited.

Oh yeah and Greg congrats on the weight loss....but real sorry about the job loss

Greg,  Congratulation on the weight loss.  You must really feal good about yourself.  About 5 years ago, I went on a diet and lost 65lbs and felt great.  Unfortunate fact #1 - I put some of it back on.

Good luck with your weight loss and I am really sorry to hear about you and Karen with your job.  Good luck in the job hunting also.

    Carmine,

My oldest son and youngest son have been coming with me the past few years and I told them if I go this year, they would have to pay for 1/3 of the fuel cost each.  My oldest son has been bringing his oldest son and this year I think he wants to bring his oldest and youngest son.  I burn 150 gallons to get there and another 150 to get home.  I usually burn around 100+ gallons at the rally, so at $3.00 a gallon, that's $1,200 just for fuel.  But I think seeing the folks on the Chesapeake are worth it, except for TC.  He usually spends more on drinks than I do in fuel.Drinks

If the fuel keeps on going up, you might see some of us rowing to the rally...

I bellyache (make that bellyached...) enough about having 41 miles each way to & from work.  You gotta feel for folks like Tony C. & othes that have their own business & drive um-teen million miles trying to drum up business & check on projects they got going on.  That's gotta be a big part of the expenses now.

Re: 2007 Chesapeake Bay Rally - need address & emails

This past year we started putting fuel cost in our bids for doing a job.....Our fuel cost are alittle over 6k a month now, that's trucks, forklifts, mixers, cutoff saws we even have gas powered table saws that run constant and they go through about 5 gal a day
