Scott Woodson:
Henry,
Nope, burned out the factory installed Lewmar Sprint 600. They no longer make that model, but the V700 that replaced it was supposed to be a good match. Problem is I can't trace the wires through the boat to find out how it gets hooked up. The Lewmar rep told me it should be a simple match, but can't seem to find how they fished the wires from the bow to the relay near the cockpit. Also have foot switches wired in there and looking for them also. Seems all the mechanics that I trust are busy with other boats. I'd really hate to screw up $700 worth of hardware, but I guess you gotta learn somehow
. I was going to call Tomes and tell them I would be in on Thurs for the rally and see if they had a few hours to install, but didn't want to make the trip up in case I needed an anchor and didn't have one. I'm gonna take one more shot this weekend at seeing if it's a DIY project.

Scott,
When you take the 600 off, can you not use the same wires back to the helm or are you changing to different switches? The wiring should be color coded? I have the Sprint 600 I think on mine if you want to look at it? Do you have access to the motor via the anchor locker?

As far running up the bay without an anchor - can you pull the rode out and do it manual? I keep a spare anchor and rode in my stern locker.
