Crownvoy from Magothy area to rally

Stick out tongueOK, finally paid my money and Tigger's Tale is set for the rally.  Who is leaving from the Magothy area on Thursday?  Never been up to Tomes and looking to follow one of you fine skippers up that way.Smile  Now all I have to do is fix my windlass and gas 'er up.  This will be our first overnighter since we bought it so this will set the stage.

    Scott,

Usually there is a stream of boats from the Magothy, Baltimore and then Middle River up the bay.  Depending on when you are coming by, we will be heading up from Middle River on Thursday morning.  Everyone has their VHFs on and there are not many boats out on the bay during the week.  Of course you will want to find some of the faster boats to run with...we have to get a head start or everyone blows past us.

    Henry,

We'll probably be pulling out about 0900 from Bodkin Point.  I guess we'll start calling on the radio when we hit the Bay.  I'm calling around like a mad man now to see if I can get my windlass installed before I get underway, don't really want to hit the bay without a working windlass.  We'll give a shout out as we pass Poole's Island for ya.

    Scott,

Is this a new installation?  What kind of windlass?

    Henry,

Nope, burned out the factory installed Lewmar Sprint 600.  They no longer make that model, but the V700 that replaced it was supposed to be a good match.  Problem is I can't trace the wires through the boat to find out how it gets hooked up.  The Lewmar rep told me it should be a simple match, but can't seem to find how they fished the wires from the bow to the relay near the cockpit.  Also have foot switches wired in there and looking for them also.  Seems all the mechanics that I trust are busy with other boats.  I'd really hate to screw up $700 worth of hardware, but I guess you gotta learn somehow Stick out tongue.  I was going to call Tomes and tell them I would be in on Thurs for the rally and see if they had a few hours to install, but didn't want to make the trip up in case I needed an anchor and didn't have one.  I'm gonna take one more shot this weekend at seeing if it's a DIY project.

Scott I'm going to be heading up to Tome's out of Middle River on Thurs morn around 10am which should put you around there at that time. Maybe we'll see if those Army boats are up for any "cat and mouse" Devil.....They  are pretty serious during the week days. Also we will be going directly to the Lloyds Creek raft up. Lloyds Creek is on the south bank of the Sasafrass about a 1/2 mile in as soon as you enter the River. Some one should have the coordinance(sp?)

    Tony,

How fast do you plan on cruising up to the rally?  Tracy and I might follow you but at $3.40 a gallon I won't be running WOT!  Will Mark be with you?  I know I can keep up with him.  Does anyone know how many boats we have registered now?

Bill, Mark might be ahead of me, he might be at Middle River around 9 I think that what it was the last time we talked. I have to run about 30-35mph for a good ride you should be running  probably 25-30. We should be close to 20 boats

Hey guys I'll be heading out around 9 or 10.  I'll have channel 68 on as soon as the boat hits the water so give a call.  If anyone wants we can all meet at the end of the no wake zone at 10.

John, we're supposed to be trailering but the boat's still at Tomes being worked on.  so either way she'll be on the trailer and we'll be launching at the ramp in Port Deposit.  What time are you planning on getting there?  We'll probably be there around 9 AM.

I'll hook up and load up on Wednesday night, so departure time will depend on when Connie gets up and going.

    Scott,

When you take the 600 off, can you not use the same wires back to the helm or are you changing to different switches?  The wiring should be color coded?  I have the Sprint 600 I think on mine if you want to look at it?  Do you have access to the motor via the anchor locker?

            hjd

As far running up the bay without an anchor - can you pull the rode out and do it manual?   I keep a spare anchor and rode in my stern locker.
