Jim, thanks for responding to my request, Tracker in Fort Myers listens to everything I say but without confrontation never offer a remedy to my problems. My main concern is unreliable electrics. The cabin door fouls the main wiring looms behind the helm this seems to be making the spade connectors loose. I have intermittent trim tabs, remote spot light, engine bay blower, disconnected compass wiring, and faulty helm control for the stereo. Not related to the helm wiring my macerator is not working.

Jim I arrive back in the States tomorrow 11/8/07 perhaps we could communicate then. My problem is Tracker not Crownline I love the boat.  chequecentre@btinternet.com

     No, I can't.

Howard, Specifically, what are you asking?  Although Tracker is no longer an authorized Crownline retailer, there is no reason they can't perform warranty repairs. Several of their stores are working very closely with us on warranty repairs for both ours, and their, customers.

Can you tell us who the new dealer will be in Pinellas County when Tracker closes it's doors on December 1?

What sort of electronics and aftermarket equipment has been installed on your boat?   Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing what your boat went through during the year and a half if was in the dealer's possession before you purchased it.   I remember riding out hurricane Wilma in Ft Lauderdale two years ago.  I would be glad to help any way I can.

"No you can't" like you're not allowed to?

Or,  "no you can't" like you haven't picked a dealer yet?

No, like in I don't have the answer to your question. Just for the record, I want to make clear for everyone that your dealer is in the process of closing their store. While unforunate, that's not anything we have any control over. As soon as I have information regarding any new dealers in the area I will post it.

    Thanks for the update.

I do have another question.  Is Crownline actively soliciting  new dealers in our area, or is Crownline waiting for dealerships to approach them?  I guess part of what I'm asking is how bad does Crownline want a distributorship in this part of Florida and how aggressive will your company be to make this happen.  Being that it's been public knowledge for some time now that the dealership is closing down and the new dealer hasn't been named, it would almost appear that Crownline, along with Tracker,  is backing out  of our area for whatever reason.

As you can imagine, this is pretty important to those of living in the Pinellas County area.  If a dealer is not named in the near future, how will Crownline handle warranty claims once Tracker's doors are closed for good?  I have a hundred different dealers in my area and I picked Tracker/Crownline because of the relationship I developed with the staff prior to my purchase.  It makes me very uncomfortable to own a reasonably expensive boat with no local support.

    Andrew,

Tracker isn't backing out of Pinellas county.  They are openeing a Bass Pro shop on 19 and I think that's part of the reason for the store closure.  So they can posture themselves for the new store.

As far as warranty work goes, your motor can be repaired at any authorized Volvo or Merc mechanic depending on what motor you have.  As far as other warranty work is concerned, I'm confident that Crownline will announce another local dealer in due time.  If there is any kind of lapse between the closing of Tracker and the announcing of a new dealer, you will more than likely be able to take your boat to any reputable dealer in the area and have Crownline cover the warranty repair costs.

I'm sure Jim and the good folks at Crownline will make sure any warranty work you need done will get taken care of.  Jim and his counterparts are stand up guys and I'm confident you won't have any issues in that regard.

On another note, I'm just across the bay in Riverview, FL and now that our boat is back we'd love to meet up some time.

    Thanks Ryan!

Andrew,  I'm sure we could easily sign a dealer in your area.  Would it be in your best interest for us to sign the first dealer who showed interest?  Probably not.  I would rather see our Sales staff get the "right" dealer, instead of a "quick" dealer. .   Again, as soon as I know something I will post it.

I know they're talking about opening a Bass Pro Shop, but from what I have been told that won't be till late 08 or early 09.   Kind of way off on the horizon.

The only problem with getting anything serviced by someone you didn't buy it from is that the level of service is NEVER the same.  I have bought countless motorcycles and cars from various places, and the "XYZ" dealer closest to my house never treats me nearly as well as the people who actually bought their vehicle there.   More often than not, you don't get any of the "perks" that the people who bought the vehicle there get, and usually if there is an issue that can go either way, it often does not go your way.   Without the original sale relationship, it just becomes very business like and impersonal.  The sales people want to keep you happy so you buy another boat.  The service writers really don't seem to care either way, as they're not on a commissioned pay structure.  I'm not saying this is going to happen or that the Tracker service people don't care, it's just been my experience in the past with numerous other dealerships.

That being said, it was it is and I'm in it knee deep now.  Other than this "bump in the road", Crownline has been great so far.  I have to be honest though, had I known they were going to close the dealer, I probably would have bought a Sea Ray from the Marine Max near my house instead.   As  I said before, I'm in it now and there really isn't any way of backing out without losing a considerable amount of money.  I do love the boat.  The design and function are great.  And I did really like the sales and service people at the dealership.  Good people.

I appreciate Crownline getting involved with this thread and providing updates.  This is another example of the fact that they do care about their customers.

Crownline has been very good to me so far.  I hope that they can continue to maintain my high expectations during this period of uncertainty.

Now if only I can get my boat back from the 20 hour service.  It's only been 3.5 weeks.....   Smile

Re: Any rumors on who will be the new Crownline dealer in Tampa Bay?

    Hi,

I am in the process of purchasing a boat from the Bradenton location.  I originally saw the boat at the Clearwater location.  I am also very nervous about there not being a service center in the Clearwater area.  I do not have a trailer either and it would be a long trip to Bradenton.

Has anybody received any updates on the new dealer?  Has anyone had any experience with the Bradenton location.  Sure sounds like people were not happy with the Clearwater location.

I'd appreciate any insight to calm my nerves!I

Re: Any rumors on who will be the new Crownline dealer in Tampa Bay?

    Kris, Welcome to TeamCrownline!

You will certainly want to discuss how Tracker plans to provide warranty service for you. Typically, you are responsible for getting your boat to the servicing dealership for any warranty work. Make sure exactly what your warranty coverage will be in advance. Some of the closeout boats they are offering have items missing, and have sat out in the elements for some time, which could affect warranty coverage.  We have hired a new Sales Rep who will be assigned exclusively to Florida, so you should see new a few new dealers shortly. I'll post them as soon as I know something.

    Kris,

Be aware that Tracker (Bass Pro Shops) are no longer Crownline dealers in the state of Florida. Be aware, it is buyer beware.  Go over the boat and check and test everything as you will get no help or service later, as we discovered to our expense.  Are these boats being sold with no warranty, sold as seen, just because they are old stock.

    Jim,

What do we do for warranty work if we bought our boat from Tracker in Clearwater?

Re: Any rumors on who will be the new Crownline dealer in Tampa Bay?

I bought my 270 CR from the Orlando Bass Pro Shop (Tracker Boats). I have not had any problems what so ever. The sales person and service department have been fantastic. My boat has a no cosmetic warranty, but the rest is under warranty. I did run the deal past my attorney Wink Your contract should indicate whether you purchased the boat "as is" or what type of warranty including any exclusions covered in the contract.

Re: Any rumors on who will be the new Crownline dealer in Tampa Bay?

Any news yet?  A lot of the work done at Tracker while they were open, still needs to be worked on :(

I still have many issues.  Tracker gave me a used stern light and cover support poles when they delivered my new boat.  They look raggedy.  I still want them replaced.  Tracker installed a GPS system.  It didn't work from the get go.  It still doesn't.  Tracker damaged one of my seats while it was at the dealer.  I thought they repaired it, but apparently it was just a temporary cover up and the damage is still readily apparent.  While it was at tracker for months getting a service, they didn't leave my batteries on a charger.  Now the batteries are very very slow to take a charge and I have to keep them both on a tender.  They damaged my radio surround while attempting to repair the radio.  That piece is still damaged. The gel coat is showing minor cracks around the cover snaps and my props and trim tabs are rusting like crazy.  My depth gauge is constantly going whacky and the water temp indicator doesn't work.  Nothing that keeps the boat from running, but for what we paid for this bought, I want it fixed.

One of my major problems is that Tracker said they would meet me at the ramp to take the boat in for service.  We are on the water and don't own a trailer or a vehicle that could tow this boat.  Now that they're gone, I can't find any waterfront marinas that will do this work.  There is a marina near my house, but they want to charge $150 to pull the boat out of the water and storage fee for every day it's there beyond two days.  And on top of that, they don't have anyone in house to work on it.  So that means they will have to outsource for everything.  Sounds like a nightmare.

I've talked to Quinton at CL, and he's a really nice guy but hasn't offered any solutions as of yet.  He told me to find someone to work on it, and they would pay the repairs.  So far, I can't find anyone on the water or that is interested in doing the work.  I am hoping that someone at CL will give me a hand with this.  The boat has been great and we are really enjoying it.  One of the reasons I bought the boat was because of the service and sales I experience at Tracker.   Wish I had known they were going to shut down.....  It's tough finding someone to do these repairs outside of the dealer.  I really don't know where to begin looking.  I've spent a considerable amount of time going through the phonebook, but I haven't had any luck at all with that.  I have no objections using a dealer inland if their trailer is compatible, but apparently that is an issue too.   This is getting very frustrating.

Crownline, can you please help me out with this?
