    cooler bracket

Hi, We have an '02 230BR BravoIII.  The boat features a sink with a cooler storage area below.  We bought the boat used and it seems to missing some sort of bracket to hold the cooler in place.  I have to say, you haven't had real fun unless you fill the floor with ice and loose beverages :)  This is usually followed with a few choice words :)  Anyway, I ordered the bracket from our local marina, but it seems like it will not work.  We would have to drill holes which leads us to think this was not the originally intended bracket.  Does anyone out there have the same boat that might be able to give a suggestion?  BTW We LOVE this boat!  Thanx!

    Re: cooler bracket

I have an 02' 230BR, but not sure what you mean by a bracket to hold the cooler in.  The lip of the door frame pretty much holds the cooler in on my boat.  And the latch for the door also seems to help  Do you have a pic to post?  My boat is in storage, so I am going by memory.   Your cooler storage area under the sink does have a door, right????  If not, I think the 01' model of the 230BR had that area more open without a door possibly.  Again, pics may be helpful

Since you posted in the Illinois section, what part of Illinois are you from?

It doesn't have a door and doesn't look like it ever did.  There is not even a lip around the area.  The title reads 2002, but maybe this is a mistake.  Hmmm.

We live in Southern Illinois, Sesser to be exact.  We're about 8 miles from Rend Lake.  I wonder why there hasn't been a mini-rally here?  Crownline is in West Frankfort and SilkWorm is in Murphysboro, both less than an hour away. It seems like the perfect idea.  Maybe our lake is too small.

    Re: cooler bracket

Greg, no lake is too small my friend, there just needs to be someone to step up to the plate and get one started. We boat on Clinton Lake outside of Lawrence Kansas and it is a fairly small lake. We held a mini rally there this past July the weeknd before the Summer Splash. I can't speak for the others that attended but my wife and I had a great time and it was a good warm up for the Splash. I would be glad to give you some pointers to get a mini going, I was one of those that had the same thoughts as you on doing a mini on Clinton and managed to pull it off with the help of some other Crownies. It turned out to be about 10 of us, but from what I have heard some of the bigger rallies started the same way. Hopefully some of those that attended the mini will chime in here and give you their thoughts. Again take the bull by the horns and get one started there and if you have some questions shoot an email to me gldahlem@sunflower.com.

    Re: cooler bracket

I'll try to send pics this evening.  Would you happen to have a pic of your door?  I'm wondering if a door could be added even if it isn't originally intended on the '01.

    Thanks,

    Dana

    Re: cooler bracket

OK, another way to tell if your boat is an 01' instead of an 02'--the 01' windshield frame had side vent windows that could swing out.  The 02's had a solid windshield frame without vent windows.  If your boat has the solid windows, it may be an 02', but some leftover 01' parts may have been used quite possibly.  Does your boat have the extended swim platform????  A few 01's did not have that since it was an option then.  As the 230 was continued to be produced, most dealers ordered them with it and eventually it became standard. 01' was the first year for the 230BR and second year for the 230CCR.

Actually, there is a rally not too far from you if you mostly hit Rend Lake.  Usually late July or early August, there is the Southern Illinois River rally in Golconda on the Ohio River.  I've been to it a couple of times.  Usually runs from Friday to Sunday.  Saturday is the big trip down the Ohio, through the locks to the Cumberland River all the way down to the locks into Lake Barkley and all the way back.  Also, although not a formal mini-rally, there have been get togethers at Lake Shelbeyville.  There's a number of Crownies in the Oblong area that go there.

Also, worth the haul--Chicago Loop Cruise which is typically the end of April/early May.

I will see if I have any pics of my door.  Your dealer may still be able to order you a door to mount to your boat.  The 230BR later was renamed the 236LS and run until 2006 I believe, so parts should still be available.
