What cleaner is best for boat seats?

I just got my 02 23BR out for the summer last weekend and the exterior looks great but even after a long visit to the car wash, boat soap and lots of scrubbing, my seats look dirty.  Is there a seat cleaner out there that works as promised or that you've had luck with?

    Thanks

Alot of people are using the Magic Eraser's with good results.  I've used them and they work good but I don't like the way they feel in my hands.  Kinda that fingernails on a chalk board feeling I guess.

I used to use Tylex mold and mildew remover in the old 202 and it worked great.  Just be sure to follow up with a good rinsing and then 303 fabric protector.  It will help keep the dirt out afterwards.

Try Scrubbing Bubbles in the green can and a scrub brush - was recommended to me by Dr Vinyl - works well

We use Nautical Ease Spray Boat Cleaner and a soft brush or a wet rag depending on how bad it is. After the cleaning we then cover the vinyl with Meguiars vinyl conditioner.

Same here as quote above. I tell you what...the brush is the key here. On a prior boat we tried a bunch of cleaners without any luck. The combination of the Nautical Ease and a brush worked out great.

Magic Eraser works fantastic! When I bought my 250 CR last year the Canvass top and also the seats needed to be cleaned.

I had kept hearing about the Mr Clean magic eraser product and boat a couple of the sponges and went to work.

Absolutely amazing how the seat / vinyl and top came out. Like brand new!

The generic ones I found in the Dollar Store work just as well.

    Hope this helps

We're not sure about 2002 Crownline models, but our 2008 Crownline has Nautolex upholstery with a PreFixx finish.

For Nautolex upholstery they recommend using either Formula 409 All-Purpose Spray Cleaner or Fantastik Spray Cleaner, and for mildew using X-14 Instant Mildew Stain Remover.

In their care and cleaning guide it states "CAUTION: The use of vinyl 'conditioners' or 'protectants' is not recommended and should be avoided on vinyl upholstery treated with PreFixx protective finish."

For upholstery stains, they recommend first determining the type of stain, then using one of three cleaning methods depending on the severity of the stain.  You can get all the details on their web site at:

    Hope this is helpful.

MAGIC ERASER!!!  Oh my gosh, I cannot believe how well these things work!  They have renewed my interior to about as new as you can get for a 1992 Crownline.  After I clean with the magic eraser, I used a conditioner with a UV protector.

Also, I had a rust spot up in the bow area on the center cushion that NO other cleaner would remove, the magic eraser did!  Unbelievable.

They do work well, remember they are abrasive...

I use Nautical Ease at about 10% and a brush like others above. (it is very similar to a 409 or Windex, but more slick ph) I usually wipe it all down again with fresh water, to get the stuff out of the seams, I then slick it all back down with 303 Aero space protectant.  It is a UV protectant that is like refinishing the vinyl.

I have a 2004 and the seats have held up great.

Re: What cleaner is best for boat seats?

No matter what cleaner you use.  You have to follow up with a vinyl conditioner.

for cleaning my vinyl I use Cascade dish washing soap (with Lemon).

I use a brush for the edges to get out the gunk in the creases.  for the rest I rinse off the vinyl then pour on the Cascade (while wearing latex gloves) Embarrassed  I spread out the liquid (semi gell) let is set for a couple minitues then start to work on it with a sponge that has the thin white scrub webbing that is not very abrasive.  I did not relize this winter that the back of my cover came off and left the back half of my boat exposed.  The city is redoing the creek behind our house and the dust and rain made by minyl look like my boat belonged in the junk yard.

See you all at Table Rock.

On advise of boating friends, we use Starbrite Vinyl cleaner. Works great on normal dirt, didn't have the honour of trying it on mold yet Stick out tongue
