    Memorial Day On the Magothy

WOOO HOOOOO.   Let's get to plannin'

This will be the first official raftup of the season.  We'll be at Eagle Cove on the Magothy.  For those of you unfamiliar with the cove, here are the coordinates:

    N39 05.306 W76 26.004

The official dates will be Sat May 24th through Monday May 26th.  Some of us will be out on Friday so if you want to head down early, I'm sure someone will be there.

We've had a number of posts on other threads about ramps, locations etc. and here's the general info:

Sandy Point State Park is the closest public ramp on the western shore (and probably the best in the area).  If you want to launch on the eastern shore (from Kent Island), you'll be directly across the bay from the magothy.  There's a public ramp at Kent Narrows Landing on Piney Narrows road, right at the narrows.  From that ramp, you head north around Love Point and then head due west past the Baltimore Lighthouse right to mouth of the Magothy.  If you're looking for a ramp further north of Kent Island, here's a link to all the ramps in Kent County and info on each ramp

    Kent Ramps

For the guys coming down from the north on the water, post when you're leaving and maybe some of the new people can join you and "Crownvoy" down like we've done in the past.

As always, we'll be monitoring channel 68 all weekend so if anyone needs an assist we can get to you.

Our house is just up the river from the cove and it'll be available for any emergencies.  (If we had a little more room we'd have the raftup at our dock).

If the water's warm enough, we may have the "Mid Bay" version of the Crown Olympics so if anyone remembers who has the other west marine inflatable, let me know.  Kath and I have one, but we'll need another for the competition.  I was thinking that one event might be a race around Henry's boat.  But then I though that would take the better part of the dayWink

Re: Memorial Day On the Magothy

Don't know if we will be down or not- I am going to try to get the boat cleaned up next weekend. (IF I come back from Florida)

Guess I should call the marina and see if I can float it somewhere too- man I'm off this year...don't really want to get to deep into it as I don't know how much time I will have for it this summer. Hell I can't even get a day to go down to clean the damn thing.

Maybe I'll just drive down to Cappys and row the dingey out to the raft up....at least then Cappy won't be the SMALLEST boat. Surprise

We're going to try and make it up Sunday.  I do have to finish a few tweaks on the trailer and get everything cleaned up.

We'll be there. Not sure which day yet, & hopefully NOT showing off our new canvas...

It could be amusing watching Mark & me back the boats into each other trying to get down the ramps at Sandy Point.  The last few years at a boatel have spoiled me.  Back to reality.

Yep Greg, the more things change, the more they stay the same.  Right back to where I was 4 years ago!

Re: Memorial Day On the Magothy

Tigger's Tale will be out there.  Haven't figured out the outdrive problem yet, so we might be there longer than anticipated if we break down, but that's what tow insurance is for.  Maybe if Henry comes down we can just throw a rope onto his stern when he's not looking and ride the wake home :-)  Anyone else going out for the Blue Angels?  We're going out on the 20th to anchor and watch the show.

Re: Memorial Day On the Magothy

Debbie and I are planning to head down Saturday morning and leave Monday afternoon (takes us a while).  We are not sure if we can raft with you all or dink over.  Debbie's sister and offical crew wants to join us Saturday night so I am looking for a place she can drive to and I can pick her up with the dink.

We have to get our MD state sticker next week....$$$ yuck.

Re: Memorial Day On the Magothy

So, let's see.  Two Yutes holds 76 gallons and I have one 5-1/4 gal tank that I bring to NJ every day when I work to fill with less expensive NJ gas.  12 more work days between now and the Magothy get together but I'll be out of town for three of them, so that means nine more fill-ups.  I've already put in 10-1/2 and nine times 5-1/4 = 47-1/4 so I won't be totally full when I leave PA.  Looks like I'll have to top it off in DE on the way down.  I haven't even washed and polished her yet, and still haven't moved all the equipment on board, and I have one bad trailer light.  Boy, do I have a lot to get done between now and the Magothy weekend.

    Henry,

There aren't any ramps around Sillery Bay/gibson island and I don't know anyone else who lives on the water around there.  Parking the car might be a problem.  The closest marina would be the one at Grey's creek.  (just behind little island). I don't know if they'd let someone just park there.

Best thing would probably be to have drive over and park at our house and we can just motor up and get her from there.  That way the car is safe and you don't have to worry about parking.   I can't remember but I thought the dink on 7/10's is a pretty good sized RIB.  Is it big enough to make the trip up the river?  If not we'll just split from the raft up and go get her and then join back up.

We'll be leaving on Monday too so she can just ride back with us.

hey John as far as parking at that marina on the island it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission to parkBig Smile
