    High Tides/ Wind

    Chessy Crownies,

Check your lines, matey's.  The wind and tides are riding high.  Checked mine this morning and my neighboring slip mate's sailboat was rubbing against our shared piling, gnawing at my line.  The scheduled tide was low, but the water was lapping under our pier.  I'll be checking again at lunch, scheduled high tide.

    Aye!  Batten down them hatches.

Thanks Frank.  I went down to the marina in the morning and the bay looked a mess.   My boat is secure and in good shape but I understand a stern line broke loose on another boat, but the marina staff took care of that and secured that boat.   I do have a nice new lake in the backyard from this storm.  Man this is alot of rain!

Angry  Well, at least I don't have to worry about washing my swim platform for a while.  The good news is my boat is still floating.  I'll check in the morning and hope that remains consistent...

Does anyone know who makes the factory platforms?

    Re: High Tides/ Wind

Half of my neighbors piers floated onto my bulkhead due to that storm. Looks like I will be making some dump runs this weekend or I will be calling my neighbors to tell them to come get their piers Confused.  Man we took a beating on the Patapsco. Our pier had no damage which I could not believe. Hope everyones boats and or piers are ok.

That doesn't sound good Jay?  Did your boat break loose?

    Re: High Tides/ Wind

Hope everything is ok Jay. You should have the same swim platform as I. I will see if there is a name of some sort underneath of mine when I get home this evening.

    Re: High Tides/ Wind

My boat was way too long, so I went ahead and made a quick mod to help things.  I'm guessing the waves from the storm, the dock and my platform didn't all get along too well...

Along with this, I also got a dented prop and a cracked outdrive cowl.  That appears to be the extent of the damage.  I sure hope so...  The good news is it still floats!!!  Thanks Frank!  If my boat wasn't messed up, it would have been a GREAT night for a ride on the river!

    Re: High Tides/ Wind

Sorry to hear all this Jay, but look at the bright side - as you say - she still flotes! Nothing that cannot be repaired. I just hope your insurance will cover it all. Any news on that? I hope you get her repaired and back in the water soon.

    Re: High Tides/ Wind

Wow Jay, sorry to hear about the damage to your boat, but it sure could have been alot worse.  I would imagine that Crownline would have that particular model platform still in stock, as your boat is fairly new.  I do know that Swimplatforms.com make real nice aftermarket replacements also.  Ed Charters installed one on his 250 and it really looks great.   Good Luck.

    Re: High Tides/ Wind

I gotta tell ya, Jay, it's amazing how clean that thing was pulled off.  Remind me not to have a bunch of people stand on the swim platform and start jumping up & down!  I guess it's another "break-away" feature.

    Re: High Tides/ Wind

    Jay,

I think you just need to upgrade to a 33'.  Nice big swim platform, engines and props in fine shape.   The paperwork can be done this weekend and you can be at the Memorial Day kickoff raft up!

If no - well, I am glad nobody got hurt.  By the time I hear the story on how you made those modifications, I am sure it will be interesting.

    Re: High Tides/ Wind

Jay, I could not find a manuf. name anywhere on my swim platform. Sorry. I'm sure Tomes or Smith could order one for you. Hey, it could be worse. You could be having a valve job done right now. Confused
