    generator power

I am looking to add a generator to my 1995 250cr.  I have all the normal stuff i.e. microwave, fridge, stove, head, t.v., stereo and a/c.  I am wondering if anyone has the same options and use a generator.  I am looking into the Honda eu series just curious if a 2000 will work or should i go for the 3000 watt?  The difference for me would be about 60 pounds heavier.

    thanks~!

    Re: generator power

As far as the power requirement, take the sum of all of your loads PLUS 125% of the largest load and you should be in good shape. As for the generator, it depends upon where you plan to operate it. If you're looking to permanently install a generator on the boat, I would strongly suggest doing a a Google search for a marine generator. Kohler makes a good one. If you plan to put the generator on the shore or dock, you should be OK with the Honda EU. I didn't check, but Honda might make a marine generator.

With a 2000, you can run the A/C and microwave....just not at the same time.  I figure for the few mins that I need the microwave, I can shut off the A/C.
