Last weekend I was out on the water with my 1998 br202 and it started dying out in low rpm's. It would idle and die out but if  I gave it good throtle it seemed fine when criusing . Smae with starting without adding gas it would'nt start. And criusing through a no wake was next to impossible. I was low on gas so I added gas and drove around for awhile but nothing still doing it. When I bought the the boat last year it had the same problem but it went away and didn't have any problems since then. What should i do ???????

do you hear a whistling noise coming from the engine compartment?  possibly a vacuum leak

What engine? non-fuel injected I suspect. Do you pump the throttle before you attempt to start the engine? What RPM does it usually idle at and does it idle smooth? When was the engine tuned up last? (fuel filter, distributor cap, rotor button, etc)

 I would be inclined to check all of the above.....  when was the last tune up done???  probably wouldnt hurt to do a complete tune up, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, etc....

Its a 5.0 carb it idles at about 800 and it runs at cruising the same it always did just now it dies at low rpms and at idle ! it is wierd cant figure it out

Well everyone now I am at shock. Today I went to go look for the fuel filter which I couldn't find anywhere. But I decided to try starting the boat I hooked up the hose and cranked it over  at first the engine did niot crank over just a tick when I turn the key ( anyone  knows what that is? ) after several turns the engine turned over and started up and I ran it up to temp amp it works fine now now dying out at all. Lost Because up to pulling it out the water it was not working and three weeks later I want to use my boat and fix and it works fine.

 The ticking has happened to me in the past and after a couple turnes usually goes away. But my main concern is the idle and rpm problem that I hope does not repaet itself and I am trying to figure what is going on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

The idle and RPM problem may be a concern but at least the engine is running......... The "click" that you hear could result in you needing a tow back to the dock. The single click that you hear when you attempt to start the engine, is a classic symptom of a defective starter slave solenoid and the problem will get worse over time.
