    July 4th on The Bay

What is everyone planning this year for the 4th?  Since it's my birthday, Tracy let's Drunk Bill come out and play.  We'll be getting to Fairlee Creek on the morning of the 3rd and staying until the 5th.  Then we'll head back to Middle River and raft-up at Frog Mortar Creek for the fireworks.  There's always a big traffic jam of drunk boaters and DNR police after the fireworks so we'll stay on the hook overnight and come back in on the 6th.  Anybody interested?  I need all the free birthday drinks I can get.

Re: July 4th on The Bay

More than likely we will be watching the fireworks from the shore this year as our lake is off limits to motorized vessels.  It may not be open until the end of July, and I really don't feel like buying a canoe.

    Bill,

Saw on-line that fireworks at Rock Hall are 3rd and Gibson Island is the 4th.  We're planning on trying to make it out both nights, but we'll be watching the Gibson Island fireworks from Bodkin Point.  The fireworks come up right over the trees in the cove and when the fireworks are over it's easier to get back to the docks before all the nuts come screaming through the inlet.

    Scott,

What time are you leaving on the 3rd? We were planning on staying at the cove on the 3rd and then raft up with Cappy on the 4th to watch Gibson Islands works.I have to work on 3rd but can always sneak out a little early for some boating.

Why is it that during the workweek weather is nice, but weekend forecasts call for thunderstorms?

Murphy's law......I might help the weather out by throwing grass seed down.....than I know it won't rain....or get a downpour so hard it washes evrything away....oh well I tried

If anyone comes out to Eagle's cove on Friday we'll be there Thursday night thru Friday night pulling the hook Saturday morning. I dare the weatherman to forecast bad weather. we'll be secured on the hook waiting. Stick out tongue

Re: July 4th on The Bay

We made it out to Bodkin Point to see fireworks, got there early to test out the new anchor and everything was going pretty good until it got dusk, then all hell broke loose and it rained pretty bad.  Don't know if Gibson Island did their fireworks or not but it was pretty impressive coming back to our marina as people we lighting off fireworks on both sides of the creek as we were cruising underneath...pretty cool.  I heard at least four calls on chn 16 for distress during the evening.  Sounds like quite a few people had serious problems on the water.  See ya'll on the water.

Re: July 4th on The Bay

Well!! we never made this weekend. We made it to Dobbins and lost the steering or so I thought after playing with it for a while and pulling the props i  could still hear the gears mashing in the lower unit. So far there does appear to be a lot of sources. Anyone have ideas of where I can locate a used, rebuilt, or really cheap new one.  CryingCrying
