    is the 8.2 (GSI) Liter a 496 or 502?

I have read in a few listings that the 8.2GSI is listed as a 502. However another crownie states 496? No big deal just wondering?

BTW using the liter to ci conversion shows the engine as a 500. Tongue Tied

     1 liter = 61.0237441 cubic inches

    8.2 X 61.0237441 = 500.39470162

I've got a 8.1L Mercruiser. I found the same multiplication factor, resulting in 494.29232721 cubic inches. I think 496 is more accurate, translating to 8.1279837433 L. This rounds down to 8.1L nicely...

The 8.2 liter is a 502 cubic inch engine available only in performance applications in horsepower ranging from 525 to 700 HP . at 850 HP  and up, the displacement goes to 9.1 L . What fun!!!

From what I have read the GSI is only 415 HPs? That seems way short of 525 to 700. I could sure go for that!!!

Then again at nearly 40 gallons per hour now! I can't imagine 525 to 700. Plus I am sure with the engine detuned it will last much longer than an engine being "pushed" to produce much higher HPs . . .
