Installing a GPS unit in my 270CR

Getting ready to install a Lowrance unit in my '05 270CR. The retailer I bought it from insists there is a "fuse panel" under the dash? Any idea if this is correct? If so how do I get to it? If not is it best to run + & - back to the battery?

    Thanks, Jim

    Jim,

I am not familiar with the dash on a 2005 270CR but if it is anything like my 2007 200LS, then yes there is a fuse panel underneath the dash.  I have a Garmin 76 that I hard wired into the fuse panel which had three open slots.  You should be able to see the fuse panel just by sticking your head up underneath the dash.  On a CR, it might be accessible from inside the cabin?  One thing to keep in mind is the amp rating on the fuse that you put in the panel.  Make sure to reference the owner's manual on your chartplotter for the correct amperage.  If you put too big of fuse in you could risk damaging your unit with to much juice.

Jim, I've been on vacation and swamped at work, so I have not been on too much lately.  I missed this.  Did you get your answer.  If not, I think I can help. To see the fuse panel better, you can unscrew the glove box under the dash.

BTW, I'll be in Harrisville for the fireworks on 7/5.

    Neil / Fred,

Thanks for the replies......I wish I would have waited to read them!!!!! After MANY hours of problems / frustrations, the new Lawrence is in and operational. Not enough space to type all the issues I had! I take it the ONLY access to the fuse panel is by removing the glove box? It don't see it visible anywhere else.

The good news is while I had the boat torn apart I came up with an auxiliary jump starting terminal system. Looks pretty good.

We'll be on Houghton Lake for 6 days over the holiday....

    Enjoy......

Glad you got it working.  That's the only access I know of.  Have a great holiday.

Man, I haven't been there in a while.  I've been past it the last few weeks, but it's been closed. ...after 8pm.
