    Lake Murray Get Together

Ok everyone, I am trying to get the Lake Murray get together back.  What use to be a raft up sometime exceeding 12 boats (mostly crownlines), is slim to none these days.  We use to all have a good time there as well.  Anyway, I am calling out original members of the old group and newby crownies that have no idea what I am talking about.  We need to all meet on a Saturday or Sunday at Lake Murray, OK like the old days.  I tried to email and call Jim Kennedy about this, but I think he is mad at me or something, as he won't call back.  Since we keep our boat there, any Sat or Sun is good with us.  For those of you who aren' t familiar with this lake, here is the info:  Lake murray is located 2 miles off of I-35 in Oklahoma.   It is pretty much half way between DFW and OKC, being 24 miles into Oklahoma.  It is very clean.  Since all of the rain has stirred it up a bit lately, visibility in the water is down to about 6-8 feet, so you can still see your entire body in the lake.  Murray will never close because of the way it is built.

If you are coming from TX, you would normally use exit #24.  Since the construction is going on, you need to use the Marietta OK exit, I think it is about exit 15.  Take hiway 77North a bout 9 miles to the 4 way flashing red stop light, and go 2 miles east.  Turn right at this stop sign, and go about 1/2 a mile around 2 curves until you see a propeller by the road that says lake murray marina.  Follow this road about 2 miles until you see water.  You are there.  Ask the marina where the "Marietta Landing" cove is, and that is where we always are.

If you are coming from OKC, take exit 29 due to construction.  Go east about 1 mile to the first stop light.  Go South on hiway 77 about 5 miles until you come to the flashing red stoplight, and go 2 miles east.  Turn right at this stop sign, and go about 1/2 a mile around 2 curves until you see a propeller by the road that says lake murray marina.  Follow this road about 2 miles until you see water.  You are there.  Ask the marina where the "Marietta Landing" cove is, and that is where we always are.

We will be there this Saturday, along with Greg & Renee, and the Goodmans.  We now have a 26' Chaparral, and recently named it "Bikini Bottom".  I also have huge black fenders mounted on the front of the boat, so when you see me tied up or alone, please come over, say hello, and tie up to us anytime.  If you cant find the Marietta landing, call me at 405 550-5277, and I will try to answer the phone.  We haven't seen the Hammerbergs lately either.

Lets get the group back together!!!

Bump'n and old, old, old one. Cool

Bryan,  where are you??  Big Smile

We met up with them/him a few times last year.  It was about the only place to get on the water.   It's been quiet since then.  Need to see if the old number still works!

Hammerberg's are back in the boating business as we are and the Gillum's and Beacham's and I know I'm leaving more of us Texas local's out.  As far as the Okla. crew, heard the Hartman's hadn't splashed this year yet (as of 2 weeks ago) and haven't heard anything from the Collier's.

It's true, the Hammerbergs are back after a year long hiatus from boating.  Always Starboard now runs great and looks great too after daughter's boyfriend spend about 16 hours detailing her (the boat, not the daughter).  We were at Grapevine a couple of weekends ago for the inaugural voyage of the year.  Hartman's are having trailer issues and throttle issues which have led to a temporary setback for them.  Colliers and Jacques were at Murray last Sunday.  We didn't go because I had work issues. Jim, I think we need a Murray trip later in July.
