Re: New Tundra for my boat.

Ha!  Maybe that's what I should name my boat..."The Wife Made Me Do It"

I don't have a Tundra, but would consider one for my next tow vehicle.  I have heard good things about them.  I read one person's comment on the quality, it went something like this: "I had a domestic truck and once the warranty was up, that's when the rattles and other troubles started with it.  I am well past my warranty on my Tundra and it's still as good as new."

I had (still have) a domestic truck and it turned into a rattle trap.  Toyota definitely builds a quality vehicle and they pride themselves on being quiet, which is one of the areas that I appreciate.

Re: New Tundra for my boat.

This is my 4th Toyota in a row... all of them have gone 90K miles with not a single issue... just changed the oil and air filter (one of my 4Runners even went 90K miles on the original brakes and that included lots of towing.)  So i am a Toyota fan and the new Tundra lives up to my expectations.  I really didn't want to get rid of my last 4Runner (4.7l V8, plenty of power,) but my wife was a little freaked out with the new boat back there.... the boat was 2X the size of the 4Runner.  With the Tundra (5.7L v8) we hardy know the boat is back there.. and my 240LS on the trailer w/ gear is probably around 6500#s.

Re: New Tundra for my boat.

Greg, nice choice on the new truck...congrats! I have my eye on the Tundra as well. I traded a 4-runner in two years ago on a 2005 1/2 ton Chevy P/U truck but will be looking for a new truck in June of 2008 and I think the Tundra will be it. Very sharp truck IMO.

I ran into the same problem with my 4-runner (pulling a 225br). When towing...the boat seemed to "own" the 4-runner per say.

(my wife was convinced that the boat was somehow magically going to lurch forward and crush the 4Runner... hmmmm.   But hey... i got a new truck out of it so i am happy:))  Highy recommend the new Tundra... the 5.7 is amazing!

Re: New Tundra for my boat.

I got an 07' Tahoe at Thanksgiving, in March bought a 07' 21SS.  After pulling the boat several times, and once for 5 hours I was beat.  I changed wheels and tires (went to 20" tires) and added Rancho adjustable shocks.  It still felt like the boat was pushing me, instead of me pulling the boat. And the rear end of the Tahoe bounced alot.  Last month I traded in (actually broke even) the Tahoe for an 07' F150 King Ranch 4x4 and love it!  The wife just looked at me, smiled and shook her head.  Later all she said was "If you had bought the bigger one (F250), you would have been shot!"  I guess I made the right choice.

I just took my first long(ish) trip with the boat and the new truck... pulled over HWY2 (Stevens Pass).... hardly knew my 240LS was back there.  Very impressed with my new truck.

I pull my 250 CR with an 07 tundra crewmax.... pulls it just fine. Good choice on trucks.

Re: New Tundra for my boat.

David, I second that. I bought an 07 Avalanche last Oct. Bought my 07 226 Captiva which is actually 24ft long. Not happy with the towing, I already had to put new brakes n roters ( $700 ) ouch!! The cheys look great inside and out, but going to be trading it in before next season. Not sure if im going cummings or power stroke??
