2007 Chespeake Bay Rally - Another great job

Mark, Tony, Greg, Bob, Dave & Linda,

This year may have been the best rally yet.   Debbie and I are not sure who ordered the weather but you did an awesome job.  As always we had a fun time.  Porter sure had alot of fun Friday night but it was all good fun.  I think Cappy is still thinking up photo ops for Porter and Spike.

Carmine, my  hats off to you and Linda for cruising down from New Jersey - I know you won't be reading this until sometime tomorrow.

Bob, Debbie is still concerned about Carol and her slip last night.  Your Crownline nautical olympics was certainly entertaining, although my arms are still gumby.

Thanks again to Dave & Linda for their hospitality and support of the Rally.  West Marine too - I only wish I had used thier sunscreen on Thursday.

Kathy your cookies are still a hit of the event - ok, maybe second to various alcohol creations.  Steve and Steph - it was nice to see you two this year and the kabobs were delicious.

Scott and Cathy on Tigger's Tail, I hope you had a memoral event and we will see you back next year.  Perhaps at the Labor Day raft up or over at Fairlee Creek in a few weeks.  If you don't get that windlass done, give me a call and I will help Cathy watch and laugh.

Of course winning the poker run is something never expected but much appreciated.  I am thinking it must have been an advantage selecting the cards close to last after Two Yutes had already pulled out all of the low cards.

Does anyone else get home with sore feet from walking from boat to boat and then standing while driving?

Thanks again to everyone who made this year's rally so wonderful....safe boating and see you all soon.

          Henry and Debbie

    Henry,

Thanks for taking the tops off those waves on the way home.  We made good time on the way home.  For our first rally we were really impressed with the event.  We're hooked!! (I thought I'd throw that anchor related humor in before Mike got it :-)

Likewise here. Thanks to all those that contributed to another great rally!

The trip home was uneventful other than those all too normal DC beltway/I-95 stop and go traffic jams.

    Mark,

That seems like a great winter project...we find a "retired" porta-potty, sanitize it twice, fiberglass all of the vents, put 100lbs of weight in the bottom, and 200lbs of floatation foam....

I wonder what DNR or USCG would think of a PORTER-potty vessel?  No motor and under 12' so very limited safety equipment.   Perhaps we need to get Two Yutes to capitan it, since he is experienced with taking on water?

Thank you  we had a great time.....you guys are the ones that make the rally...the weather helps alittle too. It was nice meeting some new faces.

other than a few bruises, lack of sleep, over indulgence of alcohol, ruining a  cell phone and wallet and my feet hurt I would do it all over again to be with such wonderful Crownies

Re: 2007 Chespeake Bay Rally - Another great job

    Where do we begin?

The WEATHER - whoever held off the rain gods, my extreme thanks to you!

To the Valet Parking Attendants at the docks - nice one.  Note to self - never leave keys in the boat again.  Also consider purchasing locking dock lines.

To Henry and Debbie - thanks for bringing Connie back on the last leg of the Poker Run.  And thanks Henry for convincing Connie that bigger is not better.  And I guess next year I have to buy four poker hands.

To Mark & Steff - thanks for the coffee.  Steff - next year just have Mark drink ONLY coffee

To Ed & Jean - great seeing you two again.  Glad you made it up. (And thanks for rescuing my dock lines and shore power cord)

To Fatty Patty - thanks for giving Captain Ron something to do.  The picture of Mark, Mark and Tony together with their new woman is now burned in my brain.

    To Carmine et al - Now that's a BIG bowrider.  Hope the trek home to Jersey went well.  J - E - T - S !!!

To Connie - you're the worst navigator in the world.  We should have won the dingy race.

To Godfather Jack Thomas - thanks always for selling Two Yutes (nee Absolut Fun)

To Greg - nice try but Two Yutes had you easy.  I wonder what would have happened if I went WOT?

To John and Kathy - hey - get a bigger boat, will ya!  Porter needs more space!

To Bill and Short Stuff - what a nice couple.   Can you finally get a name on the boat?

To Patrice - can't you keep your man in line?

To Steph (the Blonde with Ambition) - you were kinda quiet today - tough night on Saturday?

Jamie Dee (aka Jim and Dave) - always good to see you two.  Take care of Spike.

To Phil & Linda - good to see you (if ever so briefly).  Glad the trip home to VA was uneventful.

To all the new friends this year (Crown Jewel, Tigger's Tale, Another Panic Attack, etc) - great to have you join us.  And to the older Crownies that missed this one - we'd better see you next year.

And of course, the Rally organizers - you're the best!  Dave and Linda - the hospitality you always show is incredible (and thanks Dave for helping me get Two Yutes out of a parking jam).

Re: 2007 Chespeake Bay Rally - Another great job

First let me say thanks to all of you for being there.  We say it every year and it always remains true, the rally would be nothing with out you guys.

I'm sorry Jenny and I didn't get a chance to see everyone off yesterday, but we had to get down the road to pick up Zach.  I will say that from what I'm told I had a great time.  Word of advise to Tony, have your wife carry your phone like I did.  That way when Porter "accidentally" kicks you in the water, you won't ruin it.Hmm

To everyone, I hope Porter doesn't spend the next year trying to figure out how to top himself, and just a word of warning.....Fatty Patty will RETURN!!!!!!!!!!!!Devil

PS Mark, Jenny does know about you and I.  She says it's ok just no more pictures!

Re: 2007 Chespeake Bay Rally - Another great job

First off, Ann & I ( and cabin boy: aka Charlie  Sheen) would like to thank all of the people who put together this rally- you did a great job, and to all the other crownies we would like to thank you for making us feel so welcome (and not turning our boat around in our slip :). We had a GREAT time. It made the 11 hour journey worth the trip. We can't stop talking about how great  everyone was  and what a wonderful bunch of people you fellow Crownies are. The poker run was fun and  we were glad we made it on time. The over night raft up was also pretty awesome. When we were getting ready to leave and everyone jumped on our boat  that was pretty damn Kool. I now know the REAL person capacity of the boat.....28 people...lol.

I took tons of pics and will post them as soon as I can edit them, and try and photo shop Cappy or me  into the group shop that we took turns taking.

We are already talking about next year and how we will make "better" plans for it...... arriving earlier and staying later and visiting Baltimore and Annapolis.

Now for the not so fun part......  we made it thru the C& D canal no problem, then the Delaware  was pretty ruff, we were slammed around  untill we hit Cape May...NOT FUN!!

We took the intrarcoastal from Cape May to Atlantic City, a peacefull ride but all the no wake zones took forever. from AC  we hit the Ocean, I think the waves were higher than when we left. we turned into the Little Egg  inlet and took the intra coastal all the way home . the last few hours without running lights...

                                                        Time left: about 11:00 am

                                                        Time  arrived home 9:45pm

    Total gas bill ...$1700

Total food and drink Bill $300

    total hotel bill  $90

spending time with you Chesapeake Crownies....Priceless!!!!

other than having a sore back, sore knees, blisters on my feet and cant walk, we would do it all again( you Chesapeake Crownies are all OK in our book) If any ( or all) ever want to take the ride by boat or trailer down  you are more than welcome to  stay with us and we will show you the Barnegat Bay  and area, and try and return the Hospitality you all showed us....thanks again   Ann and Carmine

ps. ...... Cabin boy was up until 2:00 am Sunday night cleaning the boat.

Re: 2007 Chespeake Bay Rally - Another great job

    Carmine,

I can only hope you were kidding about the 1,700.00 gas bill.  If it helps any, try to think of it this way.  My gas bill might have been less, but my big fat backside busting the chair bill was more.  Go ahead Tony, I know you're dying to say something...

We're glad everyone had a good time too.  I wish we had been able to make the overnight, but unless it's porcelain, Karen's not into roughing it.  I thought it was just my feet that were sore.  That seems to be a trend so I feel better about that.

Tony/Mark/Mark.  I'm charging my batteries next time, so be careful out there.  Embarrassed  John M.  It's not over yet!  Yes  (there wasn't a hand waiving goodbye, so this will have to do.  Next time it will be your hand waiving good bye to the back end of my boat instead of the other way around!)

    Till next time,

    Greg/Karen/Andrew

For those of you that don't recognize the name, this is "Boat boy/ cabin boy/ or Charlie Sheen" I just wanted to say thanks to all (Especially Carmine & Ann for letting me be their boat boy) for a great weekend. I had an awesome time!!! Although, I think I am about 2 inches shorter after the commute to and from the rally. I will definately be attending next years festivities. Next time I'll bring my boat.  Is there a minimum size reqirement?

Connie and I came in a 20 foot bowrider for 2 or 3 years, and there used to be a lot of 225 cuddies.  Size sort of depends on what the weather is up to.  If it's too rough, you can always hitch a ride with someone else.
