    Cliff

That sounds like a plan to me. Are you sleeping on the hook or are you going to slip it overnight. There is Vinoy (expensive) Municipal Marina or there is another marina about a mile or two south of Vinoy Park. I will probably stay two nights (Fri & Sat)

We'll probably boat over Saturday afternoon and hang out for a couple of hours and then head home.  Just let us know the times everybody is planning on tying up.

I don't mind hooking it if there's a place I can re-fill the water tank...

    Re: Tampa Bay Blues Festival

Sounds like a plan.  We'll have some friends with us and plan on heading over Saturday before lunch.  So we'll probably bring the grill and have lunch on the boat.  Looks like the first act is at 1pm.

I sent an email to John Russo (Orlando area) to see if they are interested in coming over as well.  Hopefully we can get a good crowd!

Received an email from Cliff about this so will try and see if we can make it. Sounds really good, we could certainly do with a break from work. Will keep you posted if we can make it.Smile

    Re: Tampa Bay Blues Festival

    Hi Guys,

I need some detail on this big event:

    1) Where's a good ramp to drop the boat in and keep the truck parked for the weekend (a couple of choices would be good in case they're full, and I don't care if there's a nominal fee)?

    2) Are we going ashore to see the concerts or just hanging on the boats?

    3) Do you have any coordinates for where we're anchoring?  I want to see which hazards I'm going to hit!

    I can't wait!

    Re: Tampa Bay Blues Festival

    Hey Joe!

Really hope you can make it.  Would love to see ya.

There are a couple different ramps you could use all depending on how "close" you want to be from the actual raft up spot.  I'll be putting in at Williams Park in Gibsonton, FL and it's probably about a 40 minute run over.  No parking fee and I think you can leave your truck / trailer there without any issues.  But there are definately closer ramps.

     Williams Park

E.G. Simmons is a little farther south but the surrounding waters are pretty shallow so beware.

    E.G. Simmons

On the other side of the bay you could use the ramp at Ft Desoto.  Just be careful to stay in the channels because it can get shallow.  I can't remember how long of a run from Ft Desoto but I think maybe 30 minutes or so.  You have to pay $5 to park there and I'm not sure what the overnight policy is.

    Fort Desoto

I think we're just achoring up and hanging out on the boats.  I don't recall the cost to get into the event but you can hear the music great from the water because the stage is only 50 or so feet from the sea wall.  But if you choose to go in you'll probably have to motor over to the St Pete municipal marina.  They have about 6 courtesy docks that are pay by the hour.  $1 an hour.

Lat and Long for the anchor out spot that we'll be at is about

    27 46.614' N

    82 37.522' W

    Ryan -

Thanks for the invite! - Originally, we were planning on making it over for the event. However, plans changed due to a company function.

Looking forward to rafting up at a future event (or just a plain 'ole weekend!)

    Re: Tampa Bay Blues Festival

Really good info Ryan, not just for Joe, but for anyone that would be trailering to the area. We used to launch at Williams Park and left the truck and trailer there for the weekend. Did this many times and never had a problem. They have 4 decent ramps and a very large parking area.

FYI Ticket prices are $75 for a 3 day pass,  $30 for a single day. Although you can't really see the stage from the water, the sound is excellent. We plan to stay on the boat and spend the ticket money on libations. (and Fuel)
