    Northwest Spring Launch Timeframe?

So, our weather has been relatively nice here lately Big Smile.    What general timeframe do you think is "safe" to fill the block back up with water and prepare for the first drop in the water, here in the Northwest?  After I tackle installing  our swim platform, within the next few weeks, we'll be ready to charge up the batteries and hit the water.

Well, "they" say for planting purposes that the frost risk is till the end of March.  Mid April should be risk free. I don't winterize becase the boat is in the garage.  Most lakes we go to in Oregon are not high enough until late April-early May anyway. We have gotten out in April, but usually May cuz we are fair weather boaters. We (and about 10 other NW families) head to Lake Shasta every year in mid June for 10-12 days to get the summer boating season started.

Detroit Lake looking good for 2008 Season.

I was at Detroit this weekend and the water is rising steadily. You can paste the link below into your web browser and look for the links page where you will see daily water levels for Detroit. Please read about the FLRCDL. http://www.detroitlakeoregonrecreation.com/ If you are a boating enthusiast and you use Detroit Lake in Oregon, we would like to invite you to become a member of the Federal Lakes Recreation Committee for Detroit Lake. We hold quarterly meetings at the Ranger Station in Detroit. We are dedicated to promoting recreation in and around Detroit Lake. There are many issues facing Oregon Waterways and our committee was formed to help promote the concerns of Detroit lake enthusiasts. If you sign up for this free membership, we will send you the minutes of our meetings. We are not going to pester you for donations, we just want to build a membership of folks that are interested in keeping Detroit Lake vital and Full of water during the season.

John, several of us got the boats in Detroit Lake in early May last year and had great weather.  We have reservations at Detroit Lake State Park April 18-20 and May 2-4 so far this year.  Hopefully the water will be up enough and the weather will be good enough to get the boat in then.........
