    Mizzouri River

Anyone been to check out the river yet?   I heard they released water the other day from Gavins point dam.

Do they have the docks set up?  I'll be pulling the boat out in another couple weeks.   First day in the 70-80's and I'll try to get out there.

I flew over it last Sunday, Byron - it still looks pretty low.  Maybe Cory Heitman will chime in soon, he has a slip at Dodge Park.

    Re: Mizzouri River

Forecasts earlier in the week had the river rising almost 2 more feet but last I looked, this morn, it has pretty well leveled off and is dropping a bit in the Omaha area and down river from there.  Here is the site I use to keep an eye on things.  Just below the graph is an upstream and downstream button so you can check things out wherever you boat.  Currently in Rulo the river is at a level that should provide safe boating and plenty of sandbars!!

I can't wait for summer!  I flew to vegas last weekend and I could see the boats on Lake Tahoe as I flew over.  It was 77 and sunny!!  I was a bit Jealous.

    Re: Mizzouri River

The MISSOURI is at navigation level as of March 28th.  Due to the reservoir levels up north, flows will be limited to the minimum as required to support navigation.  This would mean roughly a 14' river stage in Omaha.  This is a good thing as there should be a great selection of sandbars.  With the price of gas this year, sand bars would be hard to find with high water levels.  As always, we will be acrossthe river from the SURFSIDE CLUB.  Last year our sand bar became a popular one with an average of about 10 or more boats each weekend.  You should stop by.

The earth dam at Dodge Park is currently being removed as I type.  Once removed , the public docks will be installed.  Don't forget to go to omahariverfront.com for river news and updates.  There are lots of great links there as well as entertainment events.  Hope to see everyone on the river soon.  Feel free to call me if anyone wants to organize a sandbar party or has questions.  Cory 402-679-1983

Cory,  where is the Surfside Club?  Is that in NP Dodge park or what?

    Re: Mizzouri River

The river is definitely up here in Blair, especially with all the rain we've gotten this week. The main dock is in the water at Optimist Park, but the remaining docks are still pulled. I would imagine Parks & Rec will get the remaining docks in the water next week when it gets warmer.

I'm hoping to get the 202 out of storage either this weekend or next. I've got a new Kicker amp to install, as well as a couple odd 'n' ends to take care of before we hit the water. We're almost there!!!

The Surfside is about 4 miles up from NP Dodge park.  They are known for catfish and chicken.  There is a great sandbar across the river from there where we hang out.

Anybody out there today?  Want to get out tomorrow bad but not sure with all the rain lately.  considering heading up to cottonwood but don't want to get up there and have the debris be horrible.  thinking of maybe just staying around town.  Just trying to get a heads up on conditions.   thanks

Anybody dropping in near downtown this weekend? I heard about a sandbar party at the South Omaha Bridge sandbar, sounds like fun. I think we might check it out.

    Re: Mizzouri River

Ryan, what is the mile marker for the South Omaha Bridge?  We normally put in at Dodge Park (which is about mile marker 627).

    Re: Mizzouri River

It's about 612.5 - it's a pretty big sandbar. We stopped at a party there a couple weekends ago, tons of boats. I think it's easiest to put in at Manawa (behind the lake) and boat up from there.
