Anybody Feel the Quake?

Wild this morning. I slept thru the 4:37 vibration alarm clock this morning but Deb didn't. Then, just about 10:15 this morning, another something...tremor, aftershock...whatever. At my office, the whole building shook for about 3 seconds. Wild! Hope no one has any damage.

I wasn't scared but it was kinda freaky. They say this fault may be the site of a big one some day. They say it could swallow St. Louis! That would change things for us.

I felt them both... The first one woke Amy and I up. The windows and bed were shaking pretty good. At first, I though it was a thunderstorm coming through. I could hear our wind chimes, and then there was a low rumble, that sounded a lot like thunder rolling in. Only, it lasted longer than thunder. That's what made me realize it was an earthquake. I'd say it lasted about 20 seconds. Our cat was extremely excited while this was going on, but our dog didn't make a sound. I was sitting here at my desk when the second one happened. I could feel it in the floor, and it only lasted a second or two.

Good to see none of you got injured. Nothing broken? Any damages in the area?

Only very minor damage, if any, in our area.

Mike O, I think you are thinking of the New Madrid fault that could swallow up St, Lou. The quakes today came from the Walbash fault on the Indiana side, yes Southern Il is sandwiched between the two of them.
