    PROP INSTALL

    Hi folks

I just attemped to install a stiletto 19 pitch prop on my volvo sx drive. All seemed to fix fine exept the thrust washer does not seat into the prop . It basicly presses against the back of the hub kit causing a 1/4 space between the plastic prop hub and the thrust washer. My local marine mech said this dont look right and I may get cavitation caused by the escaping exaust gases. I put back on my VPenta prop as I did not want my outdrive to be a gunie pig for this hub kit. Is it possible once installed and ran that this may automaticly seat into the pastic hub and retighten?

I ran to west marine to see what they had and for the volvo same exact thing on thier hub kits .. What i dont get is that the thrust washer is round and the plastic hub kits are rectange so they slide in the prop shaft and lock in . A round thrust washer and a rectangle or square hub kit  seem like they do not jive together. Maybe its supposed to just "rest" against the hub and not seat fully into the hub?

Any knowledge here would be appreciated.

    Re: PROP INSTALL

On my old boat (VP 5.0 GXi) when i switched from the stock VP prop to an aftermaret prop i had to order a new thrust washer.  The VP dealer ordered it and i picked i up in a few days.
