    Another newbie question

I have a question for you guys as well.  I took delivery of my new 270CR from Tomes Landing yesterday.  I absolutely love it.  The water was pretty rough and the wind strong, but it handled like a dream.  I took it from Tomes to my slip on the Bomhemia River.

I went back today to clean the boat up and that annoying warning buzzer won't go off.  I will get that initial blast when you turn the key on, then about 10 seconds later they start again and won't go off.  Any ideas?

    Ron,

Check all your fluid levels.  This happens alot if your outdrive fluid is low.

     Ron,

Is the alarm constant or intermittent?  A constant alarm is usually related to something significant and won't shut off.  If it's constant, don't run the engine and get Tomes to check it out.  On intermittent alarms, (usually two beeps every minute) there can be a bunch of different causes, from low fluid to any one of a number of different sensors.    Unfortunately, it takes a scan tool to read the code. You should let Tomes know immediately and maybe they can get someone up to you with the reader (it's laptop based and they should be able to get up to your marina).  There have been quite a few posts about the intermittent alarms over the past couple of years.  Quite a few turned out to be low drive fluid but when I had mine it was the IAC valve.  Not a big deal to replace.

    Thanks guys,

The alarm is intermittent.  When I turn the key on I get the initial alarm to warn that the motor is starting, then I get about 5 seconds of silence, then an intermittent alarm that won't shut down.  I did talk to Tomes today who said it was probably the fluid for the outdrive.  I picked up a quart and will check it out.  I want to check on it to make sure I'm still tied up after the weather we've had anyway.

    Thanks again for the advice.

Good luck with the 270, Ron.  We love ours (JamieDee).  Are you the black and white we saw at Tomes?  Hope to see you on the water.
