    Convertible Top???

I know, I know this may sound stupid but I'm needing help with my convertible top.  It says it's supposed to fit underneath the engine hatch once it's rulled up and such. My question is how do I go about getting it in there?

    Thanks in advance

    Mike

    Re: Convertible Top???

Mine sits directly in front of the engine under the "tanning cushion". It goes in fairly easy. I do have to squeeze it together a little bit but it has a place to sit in, in front of the engine.

Mine has those slots cut out as well.  I just dont see how I could bend it that much and it still be in the same shape later on.  I've had it on the boat so I know it's the right sized top

    Re: Convertible Top???

Start the pole ends at an angle with one end toward the battery space and the other toward the trim pump.  You will need to put both ends in at the same time and slightly squeeze the ends to get them past the vinyl sides. Once you get the tips past the vinyl on the sides, it slips in easy. The poles have quite a bit of give.  Once finished, the poles sit anlged back toward the transom and the cover and boot sit in the slot in the frame just above the engine. Hope this helps.  If not, I can try to send a picture of mine.........What kind of speed do you get with a 5.7L in an 180BR?? That thing must fly......

    Re: Convertible Top???

Thanks Russ I'll give that a shot.  As far as the boat goes I'm still working on the speed.  LOL.....  I just upgraded the stock 2 bbl to a Edelbrock Marine 4 bbl carb and Edelbrock Performer Air Gar manifold.  It runs much smoother now but I need to adjust the throttle cable.  I still had some left but couldn't use it all because of where I've got it placed.  But so far I've hit 55 on GPS with 3/4 tank and 5 people.  I'm wondering also about my prop.  Maybe a different one.  Right noe I've got a SS 3-blade 21 pitch.  What are your thoughts?

    Re: Convertible Top???

I not real versed on prop matching.  I have 2.  One I use for cruising and the other I use when we are going to do a lot of tubing or boarding.  There are a lot of threads you can search here that are very helpful.  A lot of it depends on what you want to do.  For top end speed you go one way and for towing you go the other.  I'd post a prop question and let the prop guys on the forum take a shot at it.
