    Restoring colour on swim platform

I recently bought a 2000 202BR LPX - it's a solid blue/green and the only 'blemish' is that the swim platform has a white film (presumably oxidation) all over it. I've tried various things to try to get rid of this film, including Meguiar's color restorer, but to no avail. Does anybody have any ideas how to get the platform back to its original colour? Apparently, I'm the only one who notices it, but it's taking the shine (no pun intended) off the boat for me.

     Thanks,

    Barry

    Barry,

Does the swim platform have the rough finish to it?  That is the non-skid surface.  You could try and acid wash it, or using a wax remover.  If that works to your satisfaction and you go to wax the platform, do not wax the non-skid surface.  It will probably look like it is oxidised again if you do.  I am going to take a guess that what you see is from someone who waxed the area.  I hope this helps.

Thanks Kerry - yes, it is the non-skid surface.

I'll follow your advice and let you know what happens.

Cover it with carpet.  It's great.  Non slip, not hot, easy on the bare feet, no swimsuit snags, looks good.  I have Marine Berber on mine.  Many folks do this.........I can send pictures if you like...........

On my 202LPX which was a 2006 had the same issue.  It had the white residue from brand new.  Had another one put on from CL and had the same issue.  They sent it out to a fiberglass shop and had it redone.  First time on the water it was white again.  I'd put carpet on it.  Get the same stuff from your cockpit carpet matched and it will be great.
