    250CR issue with cushion replacement

I have a 1994 250CR with only 250hrs on it, she is babied to no end, but recently I noticed some of the wood from the back seat pad on the stern deteriorating a little.  I wash it down alot and use cleaner and conditioner so it remains oh so soft.  I am unaware on how I would go about removing and replacing that specific area of the interior.  Anyone have any idea on that?  The piece sits right in front of the blower grill on the transom inside the stern and above the battery switcher.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not real sure how that model is assembled, but try and reach behind there however you can and there should be some1/4" bolts to remove which should release the cushion.  A good upholstery shop should be able to make you a new one with the old one as a model.

    Brad,

I'd guess that the '94 is put together similar to my '97 which I had to remove last year.

It's bolted in 3 or 4 places. You have to reach up from the engine compartment to access them and there is one which I couldn't reach, behind the grill in the middle of the transom. I was able to get to it by removing the grill. Behind the grill is a flexible plastic box which the bilge air hoses are attached to. Remove the 4 screws securing the box and you can push it aside to get to the bolt.

It's quite a reach for the bolts - you may not be able to get to them without removing the water heater. I had removed mine since I was replacing the rusted-out casing on it.

If your plywood is as bad as mine was, forget about using it as a template. I had to create a new template with foam board to "fit" the curve on the transom. Used marine plywood to build a new frame and re-used the existing foam and vinyl.

You'll probably be surprised at just how bad the wood frame has deteriorated when you get it off.

Re: 250CR issue with cushion replacement

Thank you for all the help, i kinda assumed that it would be a bit much for me this far into the season to do at the marina. I think Im gonna wait til I put it on the trailer for the winter to give it a shot.  I see its gonna be a task given the hot water heater, dual battery set up and of course the fact that I have the 7.4L engine which gives me just about enough room to change the oil LOL.  Thank you for the input everyone much appreciated
