    Extended swim platform

I am toying with the idea of having an extended swim platform fitted to my 2000 202BR LPX. I think they come standard on the newer models, but do any of you with older boats have any experience with having these retro-fitted?

    Are they worth the money?

    Do they improve your enjoyment?

Do they enhance or spoil the look of the boat?

What kind of weight tolerance do they have?

     Barry

    Re: Extended swim platform

I don't have any personal experience with an aftermarket because my boat came with one from the factory, but alot of crownies have gotten them added aftermarket.  Seems that the place to go is http://www.swimplatforms.com/

Extended platforms are well worth the money.  Adds alot of usable space to your boat and extra protection for swimmers from the outdrive.  We use ours to put our ss propane grill on and grill up steaks, burgers, etc.  Hanging out, kids like to jump off of it.

Not sure what the weight limits are.  But I've had 3 or 4 adults on mine without issue.

As said, swimplatforms.com makes a great product.  I put one on my 1999 202 4 years ago and we love it. Best mod yet.  I have installed 4 on friends boats also.  I can send pictures to you if you like......

     Hi Randy.

I've visited the swimplatforms.com site and like that they can match the colour of the swim platform to my boat.

What sort of price do they run and how do you fit them?

    Some pics would be great.

    Thanks,

    Barry

Swim platform is probably the best, most used accessory on a boat.  I wouldn't have one without one.

    Re: Extended swim platform

I recently ordered from swimplatforms. I will give you my overall feedback . .

I love the platform and it sooooooooo nice to have on the boat. In just a few days of use, I have added a gas grill and we cook of the back of the boat. Now I don't worry about the kids jumping ON the props and hurting themselves. The ski rope is much less of a hassle to worry about.

My boat must not be a very common model as they did not have a "plug" for my boat. My platform used L brackets for the install. I was not to thrilled about the way it matched up at first. Scott at swimplatform worked with me and we got it resolved. Would I order again? Sure, but I would make sure they have a PLUG (replica). I am probably one of the most anal people i know about my stuff (silly huh). I think I may expect to much BUT, I wanted the swimplatform to be PERFECT! I have seen a few boats with a switmplatforms.com on it that look flawless. Overall I am happy with my swimplatform, I could not see boating without it.

yes, they can / do match colors also.

I have not heard one bad thing (did lots of reading) about swimplatforms and I can honestly say they "care" about their customers and will try to make you a happy camper.

    Re: Extended swim platform

Robert, I think Crownline only offered the 230BR without the factory swim platform standard for a very short time.  I doubt that there are many out there that don't have it already which is surely why they didn't have one.  On the 266BR, which has been around since at least 1995, they just made the first one up about 3 years ago.  I'm still on the fence...

    Re: Extended swim platform

I tried to order a factory setup, but when I gave them my VIN they said NO WAY JOSE you have through transom exhasut and would not sell me the platform. Thus the reason it was never installed. They said it was for "safety reasons". I was not to thrilled to hear that. Then I went to ebay hoping to find a factory setup. NO luck then swimplatforms after reading all the good stuff about them.

Ah, I remember something about that...fear that exhaust gasses would trap under there.  At the time, I don't think the 8.1 could be side exhausted.  Then again, Monte Mars' has side exhaust.

    Re: Extended swim platform

I am pretty sure 01' was the first year for the 230BR and the swim platform was an option.  Same thing in 02'.  You could get the swim platform and transom exhaust as that's how mine is set up and side exhaust wasn't an option then.  In 03', the swim platform may have become standard since they switched the exhaust option to side only, no transom.  That's also when I started hearing that thing about potential carbon monoxide buildup.

I remember this issue also and I don't understand it as V drive wakeboard boats have thru transom exhaust and platforms. I wouldn't worry much about it........
