    New Crownies From New Jersey

We just purchased our 1st 2009 250CR.  We will be boating on the Delaware River around Trenton to Philly.  Any other Crownies out in this boating area?  Also, anyone have trouble w/ camper top not fitting properly....unable to snap in certain spots??  Thanks.

PS We are working on uploading pic

Thanks for your welcome.  Am happy I found this site, didn't know it existed until searching.  Wish you were closer, would enjoy meeting up!  We have a similar "child", a Bichon Frise, who enjoys boating.  Our first boat prior to this one was a Sea Ray.  Any tips/links/etc you could share about Crowline is well appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Welcome Dave -

We're from Bucks County PA and while we usually boat on the Chesapeake, gas prices could certainly result in more Delaware River boating.  I've put in once from Neshaminy State Park near the Burlington-Bristol Bridge.  Where do you keep your Crownline?

    Hi John & Connie,

We always trailer our boat as to avoid the cost and headache of keeping it in the water.  We launch about 10 minutes north on river from the B.B.B.  It would be great to hook up with you sometime and we have been talking about going down the river to the Chesapeake which I'm sure you are familiar with.  It would be great to get info from someone who knows the waters around there.  Do you trailer your Crownline?

Re: New Crownies From New Jersey

    Hi Dave . . .

We have a 250CR (2006) berthed at Harbour Cove Marina in Somers Pint, NJ.  We're also members of the Kingsway Power Squadron of Cherry Hill.  Several Kingswy members have their boats on the Delaware in the Riverton/Riverside area.  FYI : www.usps.org/kingsway

We love our 250 and only wish there was more time to get out.  This weekend I finished installing the antenna for a fixed mount VHF -- now all I have to do is complete the wiring for the radio itself -- power and connection to GPS for DSC.

The camper top is an interesting mystery.  We usually only have it up for a few weeks and then fall back to just using the bimini.  We had a local supplier make us a cockpit cover that really makes life a lot easier.  I tried getting one through Crownline and it turned into a fiasco; that's when I sought out a local oufit.  They did a beautiful job, quickly and at a reasonable price.

I can be reached at alstoughton@comcast.net and 609.230.8735 (cell).  Welcome to the Crownline family.

We used to live in Baltimore but moved back to PA for a job so I've been trailering for at least a couple of years now.  Definitely better for the gas bill (for the boat) but now I get to gas the pick-up.  So far this year, I've only been out three times - one to the Jersey shore near Belmar, one weekend on the Chesapeake, and down to Lewes, DE this past weekend.  Right now the boat is in Lewes at the repair shop since my overheat alarm started going off but when I get her back up to PA, we'll have to try to meet up on the Delaware.

Re: New Crownies From New Jersey

    Dave/Kelly,

I'm at the Jersey shore with my new 2008 250CR. I'm specifically in Pt. Pleasant at the end of the canal, on the Bay Head side.

I'm also having trouble attatching the camper top on certain places on the boat. It just won't stretch to attatch.

Also, where did you place the boat's name. Stern, sides?

Re: New Crownies From New Jersey

Hey Duff, best of luck w/ your new 250CR.  We are still waiting for the dealer to resolve our camper top issue and looks like one of the pieces is going to be replaced after they took pictures of it.  It came close to attaching after a 95 degree day or so and lots of humidity but still wouldn't attach.  We purchased our boat from D&R, where did you get yours?  Did you buy the boat new?  We haven't placed the name on the boat yet and see there's not a lot of space to put on the stern but have heard from others either embrodiered on the seat or sides of the boat.  We prefer the stern but would have to be small size.

     Thanks, Dave

Re: New Crownies From New Jersey

Hey Guys, how's the boat?  Is it stil in Delaware? Let us know any chance you may be on the Delaware.  Met a couple of Crownies out there 2 weeks ago.  Very nice couple.  We've been on the river almost every weekend.  Looking forward to hearing from you.  Hope all goes well w/ your boat.

Congratuts on your new boat. We love our 2008 250CR. We have had some issues with our camper top. only in the front on the windshield. But, after putting it up a couple of times it has stretched some and we only have an issue with one snap.

    Enjoy!!!!
