Who would have thunk....Crownline Owner's Forum is silent in prime boating season!
I check back on the site daily - just like some of my other bad habits....
And I am amazed to see postings by Mike Shaak, Mark Buckwalter, Vince and myself - all non-crownies, and I guess all the crownies are gearing up for the Olympics or something? Maybe Shark Week?
Come on guys you bought a boat to boat....just 'cause gas went up a little, you are still paying $$$ for the boat payment, you are still paying insurance, dockage or storage, and you are probably still drinkings as much beer (tony? mark?) so get out an oar and row 30' from the dock on a saturday or sunday - learn from Bobby D....he probably has Toby trained to tow him out?
John - the genset is running great, all three A/C units are keeping up with the weather and one 15 minute fix on the vacuflush...all in all, a pretty good season for Seven Tenths! Now if the storms would stop interupting my Direct TV and throwing the Tivo off, life would be perfect. Oh, yeah - I still have a house on the market and a Crownline to sell, but someday ...
Anyone boating ?

Re: Who would have thunk....Crownline Owner's Forum is silent in prime boating season!
So far this season ...
Once on the Atlantic near Belmar, NJ; Once at Still Pond just south of the Fras, and Once on the Delaware Bay off of Lewes. If weather holds out, I'll be on Jellyfish Joel's in a few weeks.
I have to agree with you, the Forum has been real quiet. Usually talk of the annual Crowndevous gets everyone worked up, but this year there is no Main Event. Seems like the center the Chesapeake Bay crowd has definitely shifted to the Magothy, but even they're a bit quiet.
I think once and a while about selling and just enjoying the pool, but since I got such a deal on the boat, it would seem not worthwhile to sell it. I'm not suffering from a large payment. Hopefully, the next generation of Chesapeake Crownies will jump in and take over from the originals. For the Chesapeake Newbies out there, jump in to the forum and get this thing hopping again.

It usually gets quiet during boating season. As for us, I have yet to launch this year. I'm seriously considering just leaving the boat winterized and wait for next year. If my wife says ONE WORD about EVER moving again, I'm headed to Alaska with my Truck, Dog, and tools. In addition to no boating, there hasn't been any golf either.

Re: Who would have thunk....Crownline Owner's Forum is silent in prime boating season!
I've actually done more boating this year than I have in the past few. Now that it's sitting at the house on a trailer we've been on the Potomac river quite abit.
Also the next door neighbors have become my new best friends, since just about everytime we go out, they come along. This weekend the 4 of us are gearing up to go to Aquapalooza. It's a one day Searay event like the rally that has spread out into a basic free for all.
Other than having to buy a new truck to pull the big SOB out of the water, the summer has been good. I honestly do miss my Crownie friends up north, but Jenny and I just needed a year close to home.
I am having some serious Rally withdrawls this year. If I decide to get it back together for next year, who's in?

Re: Who would have thunk....Crownline Owner's Forum is silent in prime boating season!
Greeting all,
We've been out on the boat every weekend. We have taken several trip to Rock Hall and plan on going to Still Pond this weekend. Actually this may susprise you all but I've seen Bobby D fill his tank twice this year.
As for going to Aquapalooza .... I'm a little confused. We went to Aquapalooza last weekend 7/19 at Heart Miller Island. There was approx 400 boats there with free food, DJ, and water trampolines for the kids. It was pretty cool as we were tied in a string of 59 boats. so it sounds like you missed the party. So now you need to burn some gas and join Bobby D and myself at Still Pond.
Lastly, I still plan of attending the Jelly Fish Joels get together so I hope to see you all there.

Plus, some of us hook into our wireless card and work "reboatly".
That enables us to pretend to be working while keeping the ability to post at the same time! LOL!

Aquapalooza is different events all over the country. This is the Potomac River edition at a place called Fairview Beach.

I stand corrected ... I was wrong. (don't tell my wife that I admitted I was ever wrong) I tought the Hart Miller was from all of the Chesapeake. I hope you all have as much fun as we did.

Re: Who would have thunk....Crownline Owner's Forum is silent in prime boating season!
Vince,
Just don't let your wife around tony and she will never hear that you were wrong - again. (she married you !)
As for the thread, it's great to see some of the crownies are boating this year. After traveling 1,400 miles this spring, we have not done as many weekend trips with moving from the house onto Seven Tenths and then the never ending "honey do list" of fixing toilets, painting the transom (3 times, and preparing to do it AGAIN, when we get a under 80 degree time slot, without rain projected for 8+ hours and no wind - AWLGRIP is hard to do!), sewing the dink cover (yes, Henry sews - it's cheaper than the canvas shop and Debbie does not sew), replace vent covers, install electronics, so many home depot trips I could not possibly count. We are plannig to make the Fairlee creek attempt Aug 2nd, unless my parents schedule dictates we have to run to Ocean City that weekend - just learned that tonight! It's not like they have 50th anniversays that often.
Tony seven days a week - I hope that means business is booming. Is there a Wine Me Up Two in the planning ? Perhaps on a waterfront with boat up access?
Mark and Jenny - we miss your laughs but it is good to hear things are going well on the Potomac - that can be one mean piece of water.
John and Connie Jo - it's good John has the rubber ducky for the pool. If you get down to Middle River area, give us a shout.

Re: Who would have thunk....Crownline Owner's Forum is silent in prime boating season!
I don't know what's going on. We were out on the Magothy last Saturday, but no crownies to be seen. Didn't make it out Sunday. We won't be out this weekend, but maybe an evening next week. (we hope to have the boat at Smith's for the platform next week!!!!!) I've seen Frank on the random outing, and Liberty Call has been out every so often, but not a real consistent summer so far for any of us. We did lose a fender two weeks ago (stupid gas dock), so are afraid to raft up now. :-) We still have our one behemoth fender to keep things safe... There are several new crownies on the Magothy, but I haven't managed to meet any of them! We need to have another Mag raft up to get folks out!

Re: Who would have thunk....Crownline Owner's Forum is silent in prime boating season!
I was out on Sunday and even though it was a hot day, the wind was churning up the bay pretty good. I have been out a total of 13 times so far this year, which is alittle less than norm for me at this time, but I'll be out there tomorrow to bring that number up to 14. Hey Jay, I fuel up now over at Bay Bridge Marina. They have floating docks and it's really nice and calm at the fuel docking area. (No fenders needed at their fuel dock plus a nice restaurant to dock at if hungry)

Re: Who would have thunk....Crownline Owner's Forum is silent in prime boating season!
We have had the boat out a total of 4 times this year- the way I figure it, that amounts to about $4000 a day to boat. (well worth it)
Next year we will be back on the Frass and hopefully on the water a little more.
Mark- if you don't mind some help from an UNofficial Crownie, I'm in for next year.
See ya all Aug 2 on Fairlee

Hey all,
Yeah, we've been out here and there. Sorry Mr. Dennig, but not all of us have a pilot house with broadband to access the internet while boating. So, it's either go boating OR get on the forum for us. Although, it was nice having wireless access while being slipped in St. Michaels the week of July 4th. We were out for a spin last Sunday also, Doug, and it sure was windy. Sorry we missed you. We may go for a spin tonite and/ or tomorrow nite.
Jay - give me a yell if you need help pulling the boat to go to Smith's. I may be pulling mine this weekend to do some mid-season cleaning and change an exhaust manifold gasket that has developed a leak.

Hay All
We were out just a few times this summer, as we've been very busy. We were out on the 19th, on the Frass, but no Toby 2. I think we can get out for a long weekend next weekend. I don't like it down at Jellyfish's so we won't be making that. I think well end up on the Frass.
see ya'll some time.
