My boat is supposed to run 4600 to 5000 at WOT.  I am changing the pitch of my prop to increase my rpms as it is running at 4400 right now with my current prop which is a 4-blade, SS, with a 20' pitch.  The custom prop shop wants me to consider going all the way down to an 18'.  I was thinking that a 19' would be enough.  I don't want to lose too much top end....prop guy says you probably won't because your rpms will go up??

What say you folks????

Let me add....I realize that the rpms need to be increased but I was told that going to the 19 would put me at 4700 to 4800.  Wouldn't an 18 be too much???

I think Ur prop guy is pretty accuate.....IMO  going from 20 down to 19 with the same prop will only increase Ur RPM "about +200".  U want 400!
