    Balancing wheels

We just bought an '08 220EX w/350 Mag on tandem axle Prestige trailer. This is the first boat trailer I've had with aluminum wheels. They do not appear to be balanced. Is it necessary? My other trailers had steel wheels and I always had a tire dealer balance them. Thanks

    Re: Balancing wheels

Jerry, Congrats on your new baby. How did the trailer tow? Any noticable vibration/hopping of the trailer tires? Prestige builds a very good trailer and the folks behind their product are even better. I've had 2 Prestige trailers and both had tires that were balanced. They may have put the balancing weights on the inward side of the wheel.

Thanks Phil, I only towed it about 50 miles and didn't notice any bounce. We're getting rain from Hanna now and I didn't look on the inside of the wheel. I'll check tomorrow. Thanks again.

    Re: Balancing wheels

I know for a fact that Prestige is very adamant about balancing their trailer tires/rims. If you believe there is a problems, but all means contact Byron or Bobby V at Prestige--they are GOOD people.    Or at least start at a local tire place to have them checked.  But yes, a balanced trailer tire does make a big difference.

But,. assumig load range C tires, that they are set to 50 lbs.

Robbie, I live in Pleasant Garden.   Randy, I don't know there's a problem, I just didn't see any weights on the wheels. I'll take a closer look tomorrow.  Thanks

    Re: Balancing wheels

    Hey Jerry,

The weights are supposed to be on the inside of aluminum rims. If they are missing, call us, when you can.

    Re: Balancing wheels

Just as a follow up. I checked the inside of my aluminum wheels as Byron suggested and there they were. Another example of speaking before thinking.  Thanks Byron and everyone else.
