Adding an AC / DC refrigerator

I am thinking of adding an Engel AC/DC refrigerator. It works on DC 12V and AC 110V. It has handles and can be carried if need be. Comes in various sizes. Has freezing capability from 40 degrees to 0 degrees F. It automatically switches from AC to DC. 36dB noise.

There is no refrigerator in the boat (235CCR) currently.

Anyone have experience?  Do these give off a lot of heat?

Edward, had the Engel 38lt in our 19ss on the passenger side of the engine compartment.Fitted like a glove. The new electronics make the coolers easy to use. They don't give off a lot of heat, just need some ventilation.

I have a larger locally built heavy duty fridge for the 240 that woudn't fit into the 19, It generates more heat, that is 15 years old technology, but works like new & still freezes & cools brilliantly.

I am not sure how much you want to spend but I bought this one and I love it. I can take it out and use it in my car for tailgating in the offseason. It can switch from cool to heated storage. It doesn't take up much room on my 225 CCR.

    Gary & Chris:

I bought the Engel 45 AC/DC. I have tested in the house and SUV, works well. It was expensive. Very little heat given off. And it will freeze the contents if I set it on "freeze".

Let us know how it works on the boat this summer too.

Long time between contacts, but now that we are two plus months into the season, and summer is here, I am happy to say that the Engel works well.  Last weekend for example, it took about 15 cans and plastic bottles from barely cool to icey cold in a few hours while the boat was on the hook. Both AC and DC works well. It gives off very little heat in the cabin.

Edward, that's good news. Nothing worse than warm drinks.
