    Winterizing the Fresh Water System

I have a small sink in the head and the handheld transom shower (both are cold water only). Is winterizing this system as simple as draning the entire tank and putting anti-freeze in the water tank (I believe the tank holds 15 gallons) and running both the sink and transom shower until I see the anti-freeze coming out? Also, do I just put anti-freeze in the water tank or is it a ratio of water and anti-freeze?

    Thanks

Sounds like that would do the trick Greg. It'll probably take only a gallon or so to make sure all the lines and fixtures are flushed. As with the engine...don't dilute the pink stuff.

    Greg,

If you are into tinkering, you may want to think about modifying the water tank. I had a machine shop install a drain plug in the tank. Then I installed a quick disconnect in the water line between the tank and the pump as well as the water tank drain plug hole.

Now to winterize the fresh water system, I simply hook up a short piece of hose with a mating quick disconnect to the drain on the water tank. Then I unhook the quick disconnect in the water line and connect the pump side hose end up to the same hose/quick disconnect that I used to drain the tank. The end of the hose is stuck in the gallon of anti-freeze, the pump is turned on and the fawcets/transom shower opened up. Once anti-freeze is seen exiting the fawcets/transom shower, turn off the pump. It's quick, and uses less anti-freeze. The main reason I went this way was for spring commisioning as I don't have to flush the water tank several times to get the anti-freeze out. Flushing the anti-freeze from the water lines is quick and easy.
