Amps turn on when battery charger is connected

I have a 2004 Crownline 206 LS w/ two Kicker amps and a Bass Pro XPS dual bank battery charger. I just installed my amps and have found when I connect my extention cord to the battery charger the amps are powered on. When the charger is not connected, the amps are off. Both ams are wired to a deep cycle battery and are hooked to the remote turn-on from the stereo. The system works as it should until the charger is introduced. Any suggestions on how to keep the amps off when connecting the charger?

    Thanks,

    Brandon

Re: Amps turn on when battery charger is connected

I am not experiencing a hum through any of the speakers, just the amps constantly staying powered. The concern, I live in Georgia and it is extremely hot down here. When storing the boat w/ the charger connected the amps are too hot to touch. I have installed car audio professionally for many years and I have yet to encounter an issue as this. Any suggestions or a starting point for troubleshooting would be much appreciated.

    Hi

I am thinking that a hum is turning them on. I know that filters can be installed on the power side. Chargers will produce "ripple" volage, A.C. runing down the line with the D.C. It's about .25 to .75 volts (250mv-750mv) give or take. But better still, If the boat is "in storage". Just turn the battery switch to off. This will disconnect the amps and any other thing (which is what we want) connected, but will still charge your batteries. If wired "right" only your battery switch, pumps and charger should be connected stright to the batteries.

    Hope this helps
