    HELP Hatch opening manually

I have a 270CR Built in 2004. I am based in Crete Greece and have trouble getting tech support.

My batteries are flat and I cant get the Engine hatch open

Any ideas for for opening the hatch manually or some other way

    Thanks

    Re: HELP Hatch opening manually

I would get a small, cheap battery "trickle" charger plug it temporarily into a ciragette lighter socket. You may have to wait overnight, but hopefully you'll be able to get enough charge on the battery to get the hatch open. I don't know if there's a quick pin on a lanyard to disconnect the hatch lifting mechanism. If there isn't, this would be a great time to add one.

    Re: HELP Hatch opening manually

Hi Grant,   I have a 2004 250CR, so I'm assuming that your 270 has the same cover release mechanism.   If you look inside the aft storage compartment, (located under sunpad), you will see a round cover plate.  Remove the plate and you will probably have some sound insulation that you need to get through.  You will then be able to access a ring attached to a release pin on the lift ram.  Pull the pin and you should be able to lift the engine hatch.   It will be very heavy, so be careful.   I would first suggest before trying that, to flip your battery charger on and hook up the shore power.   After giving them a good charge and still having the shore power hooked up, have battery switch set to both or all and try and see if it will power up.  If there was any life left in the batteries this may work.  If not, then you got to pull the pin.  Good Luck.

    Re: HELP Hatch opening manually

I don't know if they changed much from 2004 to 2007 but mine has a set of charge posts right next to the battery switch.  I would hook a battery up to that.

But first off, I would hook it up to shore power and charge the batteries first.

    Re: HELP Hatch opening manually

The charge posts came after 2004, (nice feature), and there is now a different designed raising ram on the newer models, thus eliminating the need for the access plate.
