    New Owner

Just acquired 2008 240EX.  Looking forward to the experience.  Had a pontoon boat but couldn't get up on a plane.  Ha ha.

    Re: New Owner

    Dillon,

Congratulations on your 240EX and welcome to Team Crownline.  There are a lot of good people with solid boating expertise here watching your back - feel free to reach out for advice and assistance.

The EX's are great boats and my family loves ours.  We use ours for cruising, tubing, skiing and just having summertime fun in the sun here in Michigan.  As far as open bow boats go, the EX's ride well and have lots of room - you couldn't have picked a finer model (now I will have riled up the bow rider folks). Cool  What engine and outdrive is yours equipped with?

Your days of pontooning and plowing thru the water are over.  I am not sure where you are located and how much time you've had to enjoy your boat, but here are a few things you can expect...it’s all good.  Top speed with the 350 MAG / Brave III drive is about 50 MPH (just shy of 5000 RPM) when the boat is loaded and trimmed properly.  These boats are not lightweights, but my boat planes very quickly largely due to the dual prop configuration.  I have found 30 MPH to be a good cruising speed and, at that speed, fuel consumption seems minimal.  We are all looking forward to hearing about your experiences with the boat.

I've had mine for over two years now and it has about 130 hours on it.  I've had a few problems (largely quality issues) with it (compounded by a bad dealer who is no longer with Crownline) and with the uncertainty of the future of the brand I was pretty frustrated.  I've since found another dealer here (Stryker's Lakeside Marine) who is doing their best to work with me and take care of us.  I have also followed the many postings about the 'JTC' product warranty issue which impacts me, but I've gotten over it.  I moved up from a Four Winns and have no regrets: I still believe Crownline builds great boats, I get complimented on mine frequently and I always look forward to being out on the water.  The economy (especially here in MI) has been brutal to the automotive and marine industries in the past few years but looking forward I hope 2010 is a better year for us all.

Unfortunately, my boat has been put away for the winter (it is snowing here as I type this post).  I hope that you are fortunate enough to live in a climate where the boating season is longer.  Please let me know if there is something I can do to help your enjoy your 240EX.

Happy Holidays to all our fellow Crownies.  I hope to see everyone at Lake Norris in June.

    Re: New Owner

Welcome to Crownline owners Dillon.  I bought my first Crownline in August with an 06 240 EX and the guys here have been very helpful as I've had questions.  I'm not new to boating (had a 96 Four Winns Horizon 220 for years) but the 240 EX has some features and tendencies that are new to me.  Feel free to ask questions of the group and I'll certainly share any recent knowledge I gather with you as well.  I live in northeast TX and boat mainly in Arkansas.  If you're anywhere near (within a couple hundred miles) let me know and maybe we can enjoy the lakes as a group.  Have fun with your new toy.  Steve

    Re: New Owner

Congrats on the new Crown.  Just got our first Crownline last Tuesday.  Hopefully Texas weather will cooperate and we will be boating in no time!
