Hi Steve, I really think a 2nd battery is a good idea. It sure makes relaxing on the boat, anchored in a secluded cove listening to music a lot more enjoyable. If you ever turned the key and heard nothing but the horrible clicking sound you get with a low battery and no other boat in sight, you would never let it happen again! Some malfunctions you can't prepare for, but thisis one you can. A 2nd battery with a battery switch is a great idea, but even a spare deep cell you charge occasionally will do. (Just be sure to keep it strapped in onboard).

    Re: Boat loading and launching

Hey Steve - As Gary said, it's peace of mind and if you have or want an "amp'd" sound system it is pretty much required - Install a second battery along with a battery selection switch - You won't be dissapointed

As for launching/loading - Go to the post/discussion on the 270CR - Really not a lot of difference as to how to handle your boat other than yours is lighter and more manuverable - Yes, you can probably power your boat onto your trailer but be sure you know the depth conditions of your ramp - It is best to go slow when beginning and as you learn how your boat handles and ramp conditions you can take it up a level - Remember to trim up your engine when approaching any landing - Always have your fenders out - When you can, use the wind to help you at the docks - Looks like you have a bunker trailer so if the bunks are not submerged, get them wet before loading - Use your engine/power to control your boat - I see way too many boaters approaching at trolling speed (sometimes faster) and then shut down the engine before they are docked - Usually the results are not what the driver was hoping for!  Enjoy your new boat!

My 240 EX has two batteries with a switch that came factory installed.

    Re: Boat loading and launching

by the way... the discussion to my questions about loading/unloading are in "technical discussion" and the thread is "I need advice/tips for loading my 240 EX on the trailer" or something similar to that anyway :)  I hope the tips I received there are helpful to you.

    Re: Boat loading and launching

It's really tough not to justify a second battery with a switch. There's nothing more helpless than finding yourself in a boat with a dead battery.
